Singapore, 17 November 2016 – Samsung Electronics Singapore today announced the expansion of Samsung Pay, the secure and easy-to-use mobile payment service that can be used to make purchases almost anywhere1 in Singapore.

Samsung's flagship mobile payment service is now available on Galaxy A5 (2016) and Galaxy A7 (2016) and will also be available on Galaxy A9 Pro (2016) at a later date. Upon successful installation of the software update, they can click on the Samsung Pay icon on the home screen to install the service. Samsung Pay will also be available on the Gear S3 upon its release on 18 November 2016. As the Gear S3 is compatible with any smartphone running AndroidTM 4.4 (KitKat) or higher, devices such as the Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy S6 will now be able to support Samsung Pay on the Gear S3. Users simply have to input their card details via the Samsung Gear app on their smartphone and they will be able to make payments on the go using their Gear S32. The devices compatible with Samsung Pay from the launch of the mobile payment service include Galaxy S7 edge, Galaxy S7, Galaxy S6 edge+ and Galaxy Note 5.

Samsung Pay users can enjoy new value-added services including the EZ-Link NFC SIM launched in collaboration with EZ-Link Pte Ltd and a new barcode loyalty feature which will be available from 18 November 2016.

"Building on the positive momentum of Samsung Pay in Singapore, we are excited to announce both its compatibility with additional Samsung devices and new services that bring greater value to Samsung Pay users," said Eugene Goh, Vice President, IT & Mobile, Samsung Electronics Singapore. "Consumers are quickly adopting mobile payments here and the new support for more Samsung devices will provide greater flexibility for our customers in Singapore. Value-Added Services for Samsung Pay

EZ-Link NFC SIM

The new service on Samsung Pay provides users with EZ-Link NFC SIM convenient access to their ez-link transactions. Consumers can now use selected Samsung devices the same way an ez-link card is used for public transit and retail payments. EZ-Link NFC SIM customers can also enjoy the added benefit of using Samsung Pay for their ez-link transactions, such as checking their transaction history and value balance. This service is already available for Samsung Pay customers.

"As part of our ongoing efforts to enhance the EZ-Link NFC SIM, we are delighted to extend it as a new feature on Samsung Pay. Samsung users can now enjoy even greater convenience in their daily commute and shopping with one mobile application. This collaboration elevates EZ-Link's pioneering efforts/position in realising NFC payments in public transport further forward and paves the way for joint development of other value-added services in the future," said Nicholas Lee, Chief Executive Officer, EZ-Link Pte Ltd.

The EZ-Link NFC SIM service is available on Galaxy S7 edge, Galaxy S7, Galaxy S6 edge+, Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy A5 (2016) and Galaxy A7(2016), and will be available on the Galaxy A9 Pro (2016) at a later date.

Barcode Loyalty

A new addition to Samsung Pay to further enhance the shopping experience for users, Samsung's barcode loyalty feature for Samsung Pay will launch on 18 November 2016. A clear benefit for businesses and shoppers, Samsung Pay has an exclusive partnership with Mobeam, an m-commerce start-up that transforms barcodes into a beam of light for increased accuracy in barcode scanning by preventing the issue of barcode scanners bouncing off smartphone screens and making loyalty integration possible. The new service is a loyalty feature that will work with almost any card that has a barcode.

With the feature, users can simply add their loyalty cards from participating merchants in Samsung Pay for point collection and redemption, removing the need to carry multiple cards, slimming down their physical wallets, and ensuring that users never miss out on their loyalty points. Merchants welcome the new barcode loyalty feature which provides another avenue for them to engage consumers by featuring events, offers and promotions accessible through the loyalty account on Samsung Pay.

The barcode loyalty feature is supported on Galaxy S7 edge, Galaxy S7, Galaxy S6 edge+ and Galaxy Note 5.

Samsung Pay's expanded compatibility with more devices and the introduction of new value-added services seek to encourage the adoption of mobile payments, bring users one step closer to replacing their physical wallets. It also enables consumers to take advantage of the convenience of these features, while enriching the overall mobile experience for consumers. Integrating with Samsung Pay's comprehensive ecosystem of partners and merchants across major payment networks, banks and retailers, the new offerings on Samsung Pay bolster Samsung's commitment to provide greater flexibility, access and choice for its customers in Singapore.
