Do More with the Power of 5G on Samsung Galaxy Smartphones

Sep 09. 2020

With the largest portfolio of 5G devices, Samsung offers users the ability to do more at once with higher data speeds and lower latency

Samsung Electronics Singapore announced that its Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G, Note20 Ultra 5G, Note20 5G and the upcoming Z Fold2 5G smartphones are compatible with telcos’ 5G network trials.

Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G users can already update their devices to the latest software build to experience the power of 5G, while Galaxy Note20 series and upcoming Galaxy Z Fold2 5G users will receive the update starting from 18 September, the same day that Galaxy Z Fold2 5G becomes available in Singapore.

“5G is an important technology milestone of this decade. Since becoming the first mobile brand to successfully commercialise 5G devices, Samsung has been rolling out 5G products in market as we are committed to making this technology more accessible to everyone. And with 5G trials being rolled out, consumers can experience the positive impact 5G can have on their daily lives, helping them to share more, play more and do more,” said Sarah Chua, Vice President of IT and Mobile, Samsung Electronics Singapore. “With our expansive portfolio of 5G Galaxy devices, users can expect hyper-fast speeds1, lower latency and better bandwidth for their everyday use. Samsung is working closely with our telco partners to deliver best-in-class 5G experiences for consumers.”

Samsung’s 5G leadership

5G is set to transform the connected experience and Samsung is at the forefront of that transformation. In April 2019, Samsung launched the world’s first commercialised 5G smartphone, and now boasts the widest range of 5G products. Currently, Samsung ranges five 5G-enabled devices in Singapore: Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G, Note20 Ultra 5G, Note20 5G, the upcoming Z Fold2 5G and Tab S7+ 5G. Consumers can expect even more Samsung Galaxy 5G devices to choose from in the coming months.

Last year, Samsung shipped more than 6.7 million Galaxy 5G smartphones globally, offering consumers the ability to experience next-generation speed and performance2. As of November 2019, Samsung had accounted for 53.9% of the global 5G smartphone market3.

With faster speeds and improved connectivity, users can look forward to accelerated download times for HD videos, and more reliable and seamless data and calls in busy places. Samsung Galaxy users can also experience hyper-fast upload and download speeds, cumulating to better and more immersive live streaming, sharing and gaming experiences. Imagine downloading high quality Netflix programmes in a matter of seconds. Enjoy seamless multitasking on the Galaxy Z Fold2 5G with its large cover screen and massive main screen, along with 120Hz refresh rates and 5G so you can have several apps running with advanced Multi-Active window and not miss a beat. With telecommuting as the new normal, Galaxy Note20 Ultra 5G and Note20 5G users can get used to enhanced Google Duo video call experiences. All Samsung Galaxy 5G users can take advantage of a free YouTube Premium trial4 to enjoy high-speed, uninterrupted streaming on 5G network.

Beyond developing 5G devices, Samsung has worked on an end-to-end 5G ecosystem – spanning chipsets, network infrastructure and mobile devices, creating a perfect environment for 5G innovation and change. Globally, Samsung has also been working closely with telco partners to run tests and build infrastructure for 5G networks, which has contributed to the continuous development of this milestone technology.
