SINGAPORE – 8 October 2019 – Samsung Electronics is setting new standards for next-generation smartphones with its Galaxy S10. In its latest software update1 now available to Galaxy S10 series users in Singapore, Samsung has introduced many of the same bar-raising and powerful features seen in the Galaxy Note10 and Note10+ to the Galaxy S10e, S10 and S10+. These innovative features include AR Doodle, a built-in video editor and Link to Windows integration, and more. To further reinforce the Galaxy S10’s capabilities and superiority, the flagship device is also the first smartphone to receive the ‘Best Wi-Fi Innovation Award’ at WBA Industry Awards, which it recently won.

"Samsung is continuously innovating to ensure that our customers can do more of what they love with their Galaxy smartphones. Through the Galaxy S10’s latest software update, we believe that our latest innovative camera features and Windows integration will provide our consumers with an enhanced user experience," said Sarah Chua, Vice President, IT & Mobile, Samsung Electronics Singapore. "We are also honoured to have the Galaxy S10’s Wi-Fi 6 and Intelligent Wi-Fi features recognised as a remarkable innovation within the industry. With all these improvements, the Galaxy S10 is more powerful, more intelligent and more secure."

After downloading the update, Galaxy S10 users can do more of what they love with a smartphone experience that is more powerful than before. Their smartphone’s pro-grade camera will now include expanded Night Mode support for its front-facing camera, offering users more freedom to snap vivid shots after dark. Enhanced Super Steady video stabilization will also be available on the device.

In addition, the Galaxy S10 will also support dynamic Galaxy Note10 functions such as AR Doodle and Live Focus video recording. With AR Doodle, users can enhance their videos with fun, augmented-reality drawings and messages, while Live Focus video recording will allow users to apply bokeh effects or make depth-of-field adjustments to videos recorded with the front or rear camera.

The Galaxy S10’s new, Gallery app-accessible video editor will also offer users all the tools they’ll need to turn their memorable clips into a share-worthy video. Users can use the versatile feature to trim clips, stitch them together, adjust playback speed, or even add subtitles and background music, making it easier than ever to edit videos like a pro and make content more unique than ever.

The update incorporates improved support for Samsung DeX2 for PC or Mac, where users will be able to launch Samsung DeX2 on their PC or Mac by simply connecting their Galaxy S10 to their computer via any USB to Type C cable. They can also wirelessly connect their smartphone to their Windows 10 PC for added productivity with the new Link to Windows support. This means that Galaxy S10 users will be able to easily view the contents on their phone, send and receive messages, and sync recent photos directly from their computer.

Everyday apps including Samsung Pass and Messages have also been made more versatile and convenient. The set-up process for Samsung Pass has been simplified, making it easier for Galaxy S10 users to use their device’s advanced biometric technologies to log in to apps and websites quickly and securely. New icons for adding photos and videos have also been positioned to the left of the text window in the Messages app, to offer users easier access to the files they need.

Galaxy S10 – Powerful, Intelligent and Secure

Galaxy S10 users can be assured of experiencing the new powerful features without any compromise on their smartphone performance and security. The premium smartphone was most recently awarded the 2019 ‘Best Wi-Fi Innovation Award’3 by the Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA), for its Intelligent Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi 6 innovations.

The Galaxy S10’s Intelligent Wi-Fi uses machine learning to ensure that users’ Wi-Fi connections are both smart and safe. The device can recognise when it is in a space where Wi-Fi connections are weak or unstable, and automatically switches to LTE connectivity to avoid network interruption. What’s more, Intelligent Wi-Fi also allows the device to analyse traffic patterns upon connecting to a new network, and notify users if the network is suspicious, thus protecting them from dangers such as phishing and malware attacks.

The Galaxy S10’s Wi-Fi 64 capability provides smartphone support for next generation technology, boosting download and upload speeds by up to 20 percent compared to previous generations of Wi-Fi, giving users added speed and reliability on the device5. Even in locations where Wi-Fi signals may be slow and unstable, Wi-Fi 64 would allow for network connections that are up to about four times faster than those experienced by users of older Wi-Fi generations connecting in the same location5. It also uses less battery power, allowing users to conserve their battery for when they need it.
