What is a Smart Home?
Smart Home is a term that refers to modern homes that have appliances; lighting and/or electronic devices that can be controlled remotely by the owner, often via mobile app. Smart home-enabled devices can also operate in conjunction with other devices in the home and communicate information to other smart devices.
What is Samsung Connect Home?
Samsung Connect Home is a Wi-Fi®-enabled network hub that connects smart devices to it and each other. With the SmartThings app, you'll be able to easily control your suite of connected appliances remotely.

There are two models:
- Samsung Connect Home (ET-WV521)
- Samsung Connect Home Pro (ET-WV531)

Samsung Connect Home can also function as a Wi-Fi® router and provides a Wi-Fi® mesh repeater. Just connect two or more Samsung Connect Home hubs together to create the Wi-Fi® mesh ecosystem!
What is the difference between Connect Home and Connect Home Pro?
The core functionality between the two models is the same, and both models offer corner-to-corner Wi-Fi® coverage for homes up to 1,500sq ft*. However, the Samsung Connect Home Pro and Home models are optimised for performance under different processor and speed specifications, depending on the requirements of individual homes.

* Wi-Fi® connection stability and coverage will vary depending on environment, home configuration and layout, and other surrounding factors and conditions.
Can I switch between 2.4GHz and 5GHz?
The Samsung Connect Home and Samsung Connect Home Pro create both a 2.4GHz and 5GHz network automatically, grouped together under one network name (SSID).
If a device supports only 2.4GHz, the Wi-Fi® hub will automatically connect to that frequency.
If a device supports both 2.4GHz and 5GHz, The Samsung Connect Home and Samsung Connect Home Pro will dynamically connect the device to the stronger frequency depending on range and network traffic.
Will Samsung Connect work without internet access?
No, since all commands receive and transmit through the cloud, thus internet access is mandatory for Samsung Connect to work.
How does Samsung Connect work?
Samsung Connect Home Wi-Fi® hub will require constant internet connectivity network between the cloud server and the mobile app. The SmartThings App allows users to view real-time device status and perform smart automation control with their paired smart devices or home appliances.
What is the warranty for Samsung Connect Home & Connect Home Pro?
Your Samsung Connect Home Pro and Connect Home Pro come with 2 years' local warranty support.

If your device is found to be defective during the warranty period, you can call 1800-4252997 (1800-GALAXYS) for troubleshooting support. You will be required to produce proof of purchase when claiming for warranty.

When Samsung Connect Home is not being discovered
If your Samsung Connect Home isn't being discovered, perform these steps:

  • - Confirm the Wi-Fi® Hub is plugged in with the Ethernet and power cables, and the LED is blinking red/green
  • - Confirm the Ethernet is plugged into the IN port (not the OUT port)
  • - Confirm SmartThings App is being used
  • - Confirm the mobile is within 5 ft of the Wi-Fi® Hub
  • - Confirm the mobile device is connected to a different source of Wi-Fi® or mobile data. Switch from one to the other if connectivity is poor
  • - iOSTM doesn't support "easy setup" automatic discovery. If using iOSTM, confirm that the plus icon is tapped and selected Wi-Fi® Hub from the catalog
  • - Power cycle the modem in order to update the MAC address of the router
  • - Factory reset the Wi-Fi® Hub by holding the Reset button for approximately 10 seconds. The LED will go dark, then blinking green, then blinking red/green
Devices are working on Wi-Fi®, but won't communicate with each other
This can happen when the Wi-Fi® Hub creates its own network instead of connecting to an existing network, creating two networks. This scenario is called Double NAT and can happen when:

1. The Wi-Fi® Hub is plugged into a router/modem combo

- The Wi-Fi® Hub should be placed into Bridge mode to connect to the existing network (Tap Devices > Wi-Fi® Hub > Tap the three dots in the top right and tap Network settings > Bridge > Switch)

2. A second Wi-Fi® Hub was set up while plugged into Ethernet (instead of connecting wirelessly to the first Wi-Fi® Hub to create a mesh network)

- Delete the second Wi-Fi® Hub from the app, unplug the Ethernet and tap the plus icon in the app to set it up as a sub Hub
My SmartThings Multipurpose Sensor is not connecting, what do I do?
If your Multipurpose sensor is not connecting after initial setup, ensure that SmartThings Hub is installed and follow these steps:

1. Delete the sensor

Tap Devices at the bottom center > Select the Three Dots icon at the top right > Edit > Remove the device using the minus sign on the right > Confirm delete

2. Reset the sensor

  • a. Tap Add device > Add Device Manually > Multi-functional sensor > Samsung SmartThings
  • b. While the Connect Home is searching, hold down the Connect button on the Multipurpose Sensor for 5 seconds
  • c. Release the button when the LED light starts blinking red. The LED should blink green three times when it connects to the Hub

3. How far away is the sensor from the Connect Home?

  • a. Bring the sensor within 10-feet (3-meters) of the Connect Home and try the reset and repeat the steps detailed in Setup. Confirm the sensor is working
  • b. Move to the final location and confirm it continues operating

4. Confirm the LED is blinking
My Samsung SmartThings Outlet is not showing the correct status.
If your Samsung SmartThings Outlet is showing the incorrect status, follow these steps:

1. Tap Refresh on the device page

2. Toggle the outlet on and off manually and via the mobile app

3. How far away from the Connect Home is the outlet? If you bring it closer and turn the outlet on and off, does it update the status correctly?

4. Remove the Outlet from the Connect Home, reset, and reconnect it

  • a. Tap My Devices in the SmartThings App
  • b. Tap the menu icon in the top right > Delete Devices > Select the Outlet
  • c. Unplug the outlet
  • d. Tap + > Add device manually > Outlets > Samsung SmartThings
  • e. Hold the button down on the outlet and plug it in
  • f. Once the LED on the outlet turns on, immediately let go of the button
  • g. Let the LED flash 3 times and then turn the outlet on and off until it connects
