How to fix unusual screen colours on your Samsung Galaxy device

If your Galaxy device screen colours look different, darker than usual, or tinted unexpectedly, certain display or accessibility features may be enabled. Features such as Adaptive colour tone, colour correction, Extra dim, and Eye comfort shield can affect screen colour and brightness. Follow the steps below to check and adjust these settings.

Note:

  • Menu names, settings, and screen layouts may vary depending on the model and software version.
  • Some features may not be supported on all Galaxy devices.
  • If the issue continues after trying the steps below, contact Samsung Support or visit a Samsung service centre for further assistance.

If your screen colours suddenly look different, unnatural, or tinted, display or accessibility features such as Adaptive colour tone, Colour correction, or Colour filter may be enabled.

Turn off Adaptive colour tone

The Adaptive colour tone feature automatically adjusts colours and white balance based on ambient lighting conditions to make colours appear natural in different environments. If screen colours suddenly appear different, try turning this feature off.

Step 1. Open Settings > Tap Display.

Step 2. Turn off Adaptive colour tone and check the screen colours again.

Note: Adaptive colour tone is available starting from the Galaxy S24 series and support may vary by model.

Turn off Colour correction

The Colour correction helps users distinguish colours more clearly. If the screen colours suddenly appear different while using your device, try turning off the Colour correction feature.

Step 1. Open Settings > Tap Accessibility.

Step 2. Tap Vision enhancements.

Step 3. Tap Colour correction > Turn off Colour correction.

Note: Colour correction does not support separate intensity adjustment settings. 

Turn off Colour filter

Colour filter adds a colour filter across the screen to help improve text readability. If the entire screen suddenly appears tinted or covered with a colour filter while using your device, check whether the Colour filter feature is enabled.

Step 1. Open Settings > Tap Accessibility.

Step 2. Tap Vision enhancements.

Step 3. Tap Colour filter > Turn off Colour filter.

Turn off Extra dim

If the screen suddenly appears darker than usual, the Extra dim feature may be enabled.

Step 3. Turn off Extra dim.

Turn off Eye comfort shield

If the screen colours appear yellow or warmer than expected, the Eye comfort shield feature may be enabled.

Step 2. Turn off Eye comfort shield.
