Mar 28. 2022

The “do-it-all” Smart Monitor lineup unlocks a complete work and play experience for consumers, with smarter and more intuitive features

The 2022 Smart Monitor Series comes with improved features and upgraded stylish design

SINGAPORE – 28 March 2022 – Samsung Electronics Singapore today announced the availability of the refreshed Smart Monitor lineup from 8 April.  The 2022 Smart Monitor lineup will feature three different models – M5, M7 and M8 - and packs enhanced features, including the ability to manage smart devices all from the monitor, built-in camera for video conferencing calls1, as well as improved picture quality, alongside capabilities for users to access a variety of streaming services2.

Leading the line-up is the all-new Smart Monitor M8, a 32” UHD display with a SlimFit Cam, and a much slimmer profile. Featuring a sophisticated flat-back design, the M8 is about three-quarters slimmer than the previous models at 11.4mm thin. The Smart Monitor M8 also earned CES Innovation Awards Honoree accolade from the CTA (Consumer Technology Association) in 2022.

The 2022 Smart Monitor Series as an IoT Hub

All Smart Monitors can also now double up as an IoT hub for homes, where users can easily control and monitor smart home devices via the monitor with SmartThings Hub3. Users can have a one view of all devices onscreen and also create different settings based on personal living requirements and habits, such as auto-dimming of lights during the night. Voice control is also available on the new Smart Monitor M8 and M7 series, where users can tap on Bixby to control the monitor – even when the monitor is off. This is enabled by a high-sensitivity in-built Far Field Voice microphone.

“Our Smart Monitor range was well received by consumers for its ability to be more than just a display. Its multi-faceted uses have helped consumers to rethink how a monitor can factor into their work and play requirements. The refreshed line-up not only includes features that our consumers have come to love, such as the Smart TV Experience, Remote Work capabilities, but also enhanced capabilities that make the Smart Monitor even smarter, even without a connection to a PC,” said Jacus Long, Director & Head, Display and Brand Memory Business, Samsung Electronics Singapore.

For work, play, and everything in between

First launched in 2020, the Smart Monitor range is an innovative, do-it-all screen that brings together an unprecedented suite of features for work, learning and entertainment in a single display.

When it comes to productivity, the Smart Monitor has it all. The new line-up is a perfect home office device, as it allows users to connect to various IT devices through the upgraded Smart Hub without the need for a PC. The Workspace User Interface offers all services needed to work on one screen, helping users wirelessly connect to a Windows or Mac PC and efficiently use an extensive range of useful features, including Samsung DeX; Mirroring content from smartphone to the M8; Apple AirPlay 2; and Microsoft 3654 cloud service.

With more users splitting time between home and offices, integrated video conferencing solution is also in-demand today.  The Smart Monitor M8 comes with a magnetic and removeable SlimFit Cam that can be attached to the monitor while keeping desk space neat without any unsightly wires. The SlimFit Cam also features face tracking and auto zoom functions, swiftly identifying a person’s face when on screen and automatically focusing on the subject. In other words, it can follow and capture an individual speaker, a perfect option for active presentation or livestreaming. In addition, the monitor supports video chat apps, allowing users to work remotely or engage in video conferencing at home or in the workplace using the SlimFit Cam.

All Smart Monitors continue to support Smart TV functions, where users can stream their favourite programmes via popular streaming apps including, Apple TV, Disney+, Netflix, Viu, YouTube and other local OTT services5 straight from the monitor. The monitors also come with in-built speakers, as well as Adaptive Sound support, where the audio delivered is adjusted in accordance with the surroundings.

All-in-one monitors with vivid display quality

The 2022 line-up also features enhanced picture quality with UHD resolution found on the Smart Monitor M7 and M8 series, which has 4 times more pixel density when compared to a full HD screen.

The M8 also comes with HDR 10+ and sRGB 99% feature which displays more vivid and detailed pictures, as well as height adjustable stand (HAS) and tilt functionality, allowing users to find the perfect position for every project, movie night or study session.

The Smart Monitor range is equipped with features such as Flicker Free technology and Eye Saver Mode to reduce eye strain due to longer computing hours. The displays also offer adaptive picture technology, enhancing viewer comfort by automatically adjusting display brightness and colour temperature.
