How to reconnect your Samsung Galaxy Watch or Buds series to a new phone

You can reconnect your Samsung Galaxy Watch or Galaxy Buds to a new phone if you change devices. Follow the steps below to reconnect each device and complete the setup on your new phone.

How to reconnect your Galaxy Watch to a new phone

To reconnect your Galaxy Watch to a new phone, start the connection on the watch first and then continue the setup on your phone.

The steps below explain how to complete the connection using your Galaxy Watch and phone.

Note:

  • Depending on the Galaxy Watch model and software version, reconnecting to a new phone may reset the watch and remove all existing data.
  • If you need to back up your data, back up the watch before reconnecting it to a new phone by going to Galaxy Wearable app > Watch settings > Accounts and backup > Back up data.

Reconnect your Galaxy Watch

Step 1. On the watch, swipe down from the top of the screen to open the notification panel.

Step 2. Tap Settings.

Step 4. Tap Transfer watch to new phone.

Step 5. When the Transfer watch to new phone screen appears, select the check mark.

Step 6. On your phone, open the Galaxy Wearable app.

Step 7. Tap Start.

Step 8. Select the Galaxy Watch you want to connect.

Step 9. Check that the number shown on the watch matches the number on the phone, then tap Confirm.

Step 10. Select the agreement options and tap Continue.

Step 11. Wait while the connection progress completes.

Step 12. When the setup is complete, check the connection status.

Note:

  • Optional items are not required to connect the Galaxy Watch.
  • If you have backed up data, a Select item to restore screen may appear during the connection process.

How to reconnect your Galaxy Buds to a new phone

Before connecting Galaxy Buds to a new phone, you may need to disconnect them from the previous phone.

 

1. Disconnect Galaxy Buds from the previous phone

You can disconnect Galaxy Buds from the previous phone using the phone's Bluetooth settings. If you want to continue using the Galaxy Buds with the previous phone or if they are already disconnected, you can skip this step.

Step 1. Tap Settings.

Step 2. Tap Connections.

Step 3. Select Bluetooth and confirm that it is turned on.

Step 4. Tap the Settings icon next to the connected Galaxy Buds.

Step 5. Tap Disconnect or Unpair.

Step 6. Check that Galaxy Buds no longer appear under Paired devices.

Note:

  • If you select Disconnect, you can reconnect the Galaxy Buds later.
  • If you select Unpair, the connection history is removed, and the Galaxy Buds must be set up again to reconnect.

2. Connect Galaxy Buds to a new phone

You can reconnect your Galaxy Buds to a new phone in different ways depending on the Android OS version installed on your device. Follow the instructions below based on your phone's OS version.

Reconnect Galaxy Buds on Android 15 or earlier

On phones running Android 15 or earlier, Galaxy Buds are reconnected using the Galaxy Wearable app. After the setup is complete, you can check the connection status directly in the app.

Step 1. Tap the Galaxy Wearable app.

Step 2. Tap Start.

Step 3. Select the Galaxy Buds you want to connect.

Step 4. Select the required agreement options, then tap Agree.

Step 5. When the setup completion screen appears, check that setup is complete.

Step 6. Check the connection status in the Galaxy Wearable app.

Note: Optional items are not required to connect the Galaxy Buds.

Reconnect Galaxy Buds on Android 16 or later

On phones running Android 16 or later, start pairing by pressing and holding the button on the Galaxy Buds charging case to enter pairing mode. When the connection pop-up appears on your phone, continue the setup. After the setup is complete, you can check the connection status in Settings.

Step 2. When the Galaxy Buds connection pop-up appears on your phone, tap Connect.

Step 3. Select the required agreement options, then tap Agree.

Step 5. Open Settings, then tap the connected Galaxy Buds device.

Step 6. Check the connection status of your Galaxy Buds.
