Some users cannot use the ECG feature in Samsung Health Monitor due to medical conditions, device limitations, or usage restrictions. The ECG function may not work or may be unavailable if these conditions apply.

This guidance follows Samsung recommendations to help you understand when ECG use is restricted on a Samsung Galaxy Watch.

ECG feature restrictions and precautions

  1. Do not use the ECG feature if you have an implanted pacemaker, implanted cardiac defibrillator, or other implanted electronic devices.
  2. Do not use the ECG feature if you are under 22 years old or have known arrhythmias other than atrial fibrillation.
  3. Do not take ECG measurements during physical activity.
  4. Do not take ECG measurements during medical procedures such as surgery or external defibrillation.
  5. Do not use the ECG feature when the Galaxy Watch is near strong electromagnetic fields such as MRI machines, X-ray equipment, anti-theft systems, or metal detectors.
  6. Make sure your finger is clean, uncovered, and free from bruises, scars, or cuts when recording ECG.
  7. Be aware that some physiological conditions may prevent the ECG app from detecting or analyzing a clear signal.
