Why is my Samsung Galaxy phone not charging or charging slowly

Charging issues are usually caused by cables, settings, temperature, or debris in the port. Checking these factors and adjusting usage can restore normal charging.

Check the estimated charging time

You can view the estimated remaining time until the battery is fully charged.

Step 1. Tap Settings.

Step 2. Select Battery.

Step 3. Check the remaining charging time.

Step 4. Check the remaining charging time from the notification panel.

Note:

  • The estimated charging time may vary depending on device condition and charging environment.
  • The charging time may not appear if the device temperature is too high or too low.

What to check when charging is slow or not working

Stop using the phone during charging

Avoid using heavy apps like games or streaming while charging

 

Check fast charging settings

Step 1. Tap Settings.

Step 2. Select Battery.

Step 3. Select Charging settings.

Step 4. Enable Fast charging and Fast wireless charging.

Note:

  • Fast charging is not supported when using a normal charger.
  • For wireless fast charging, ensure the charger supports fast charging.

Charge your device at a proper temperature

  • Charge your device at room temperature
  • Avoid very hot or cold environments

Notes:
Extreme temperatures can limit charging speed.

Use Samsung approved chargers and cables

  • Use original or certified Samsung chargers
  • Replace damaged or low-quality cables

Notes:
Non-approved accessories may cause slow or unstable charging.

Check the charging port and cable condition

  • Inspect the charging port for dust or debris
  • Clean gently using a soft brush
  • Check the cable for damage

Notes:
Blocked or damaged ports can prevent proper charging.

Reboot your device

  • Press and hold Power and Volume Down keys
  • Wait for the device to restart.

Run a test using Samsung Members

Step 4. Tap Battery status, Cable charging, or Wireless charging to start checking.

Step 5. Review the results and follow any on-screen guidance if an issue is detected.
