How to use Portrait Mode on The Sero

Samsung The Sero TV offers Portrait mode for you to enjoy your mobile contents properly and change the room atmosphere with various Portrait mode contents. We have a detailed guide to using the Portrait mode as follows.

Switch from Landscape mode to Portrait mode

 

There are three ways to switch The Sero from landscape to portrait. You can use the included remote, Bixby Voice, or SmartThings app connected with The Sero. Choose one of the three methods that best suits you and try it out.

  • Method 1. Just rotate your mobile device vertically to horizontally. after setting up SmartThings
  • Method 2. Click the Rotate button on the remote control.
  • Method 3. Using Voice recognition on the remote control.

Note: When the screen is switched from landscape to portrait, the content is played at the centre and the size varies depending on the aspect ratio.

How to set the contents in the Portrait mode

 

You can select various types of contents for the portrait mode: Clock, Poster, My Photo, Cinemagraph, and Sound Wall. Those features will make The Sero blend seamlessly into your space. You can change your room’s ambience with one of five modes.

 

Using the remote control

Step 1. Press the Select button on the content screen only for portrait mode.

Step 2. Go left or right to change the content category.

Step 3. Move to the desired content category and go up or down to select.

Using the SmartThings app

Step 1. In the SmartThings app, tap The Sero, and tap Portrait Mode.

Step 2. Select the content category, select the desired content, and then tap the View on The Sero button on the screen.

Note:

  • Portrait mode may not be supported depending on the app and the provided content will be updated in the future.
  • The device screenshots and menu are only a sample in English - they are also available in the language of your country.

You can rotate The Sero using the included remote and Bixby Voice. Or, connect The Sero to the SmartThings app to use the Multi View or Tap View features.

Make sure The Sero is turned on, and then navigate to and open the SmartThings app on your compatible phone. Tap Add now when you receive a notification for The Sero. Or, manually add The Sero by tapping Add (the plus sign), and then tapping Device. You can search for your TV or tap Scan nearby.

Once you’re connected, you can control the direction of The Sero. Just turn your compatible phone horizontally or vertically to rotate the TV's screen. If you’d like to ask Bixby to rotate the screen for you, just press the voice recognition button on The Sero’s remote control. Then, say “Vertical mode” or “Horizontal mode.” Or, you can press the rotation button on the remote to control the screen.

To mirror your phone’s screen using Tap View, tap the corner of your phone on the The Sero. Make sure to tap gently so you don’t accidentally damage the devices, and avoid tapping your device on the corner of the TV or directly on the TV’s screen. You can also use Smart View to mirror your phone. Using two fingers, swipe down from the top of your phone’s screen to open Quick settings, and then tap the Smart View icon. Select the Sero from the list of devices, and then allow any permissions if needed.

Now you can stream videos, open apps, and check out your Gallery while viewing everything on The Sero. With The Sero’s Picture in Graphics feature, the images will automatically adjust so there’s no interruption when you’re in the middle of a movie or livestream and need to rotate your phone.

Note: Apple iPhone will not be able to rotate Sero, use remote to manually rotate.
