How do I add my Samsung Smart TV to the SmartThings app

You can add your Samsung Smart TV to the SmartThings app to control it remotely. Make sure your phone and TV are connected to the same Wi-Fi and signed in to the same Samsung account.

Ensure to meet the requirements for connection

Step 1: Make sure your phone runs Android 6.0 or later or iOS 10.0 or later
Step 2: Connect your phone and TV to the same Wi-Fi network
Step 3: Install the SmartThings app
Step 4: Sign in to the same Samsung account on both devices

Note: TVs that support Bluetooth after 2017 have a BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) function, so you can search for and set up devices without being connected to the same network.

Step 1. Turn on the TV and launch the SmartThings app.

Step 2. When the pop-up appears, tap Add Now.

Step 3. Tap Start.

Step 4. Select Location and Room for your TV.
Wait until the registration process is completed.

Notes:
Your TV will be detected automatically if it is nearby.

Step 8. Turn on your TV using the remote control.

Step 9. Select OK on your TV.

Step 10. Enter the PIN shown on the TV screen.

Step 11. Wait until the TV is registered with your Samsung Account.

Step 12. Set the name of TV and tap Done. The registration is completed.

Note:

  • In the case of TVs manufactured in 2016, when you log in to the TV with the same Samsung Account as the SmartThings app, the device is automatically registered.
  • TVs manufactured after 2017 will display a PIN input screen.

  • If you are having trouble with your Samsung Smart TV, you should always check to see if there are any software updates available. Downloading the latest update may fix for your problem.
