How to Avoid Overcharging on Your Galaxy Phone?

Last Update date : 2023-06-22

Our Galaxy phones come with many battery features such as Adaptive battery and Fast charging. One feature that isn't turned on by default but can help improve the overall lifespan of your battery is the Protect battery feature.

Battery

Although phone batteries can be charged and discharged many times, they will still gradually wear out. If a battery is constantly being overcharged, it might reduce its capacity and lifetime. Keeping a phone connected to a charger (when the phone is already 100% charged) while you are using it may lower battery life if you do it repeatedly.

When enabled, the Protect battery feature limits your phone's battery from being charged above 85% to preserve your battery lifespan in the long run.

Step 1.  Go to Settings > Battery and device care.

Step 2. Tap on Battery.
