Ever think back to that moment when you first locked eyes? Whether that romantic instant triggered heart-eyed emojis or a gradual bond that snowballed over time, we want to see a reboot of your real love story through freshly captured photos.

To spark some inspiration, we invited two couples to relive their meet-cute, awkward days of courtship and relationship progression using the Galaxy S21. No significant other? No worries. Reflect on the time you met your other half (bestie, furry friend or otherwise!) and re-create your own visual love story #withGalaxy.

Walis and Fletcher naturally came together through a shared love of black skinny jeans, high-top Chelsea boots and photography. While their relationship followed a longer unconventional journey as coworkers-turned-friends-turned-lovers, their comfort level and silliness with each other remained constant. Go behind the scenes to see how they captured their early memories together and check out their tips for nailing the shot.

Scout a location significant to a time in your relationship

“When we first started dating, I invited Fletcher to spend the holidays with me and my family in Arizona,” Walis recalls. “We spent some time at my parents’ home in Nogales during the trip. We have a fun image that I took of Fletcher outside of their home. He is holding lemons over his eyes."

Rely on tech to assist the shot

Give your friends a break and let your phone (plus an added prop or two) work harder to capture the perfect moment. Walis and Fletcher used a tripod and the voice control feature to help them take the photos.

Shoot from a unique vantage point

Don’t be afraid to think outside the frame. A slightly different take on a “standard” couple photo can offer a fresh aesthetic and make your memory come alive. Walis and Fletcher played around with different angles to capture an interesting perspective.

Create a vibe in post-processing

“We used the original photo and slightly adjusted the brightness, exposure, contrast, highlights, saturation and tint,” Walis and Fletcher say. “For some images we used the ‘warm’ filter.”

It didn't take long for Camille and Darnell to hit it off IRL after sharing laughs over each other's online dating profiles. What started as a waffle breakfast date eventually turned into a 16-hour bonding session over art, more food, dancing, binge-watching and laughing 'til their cheeks hurt. Do what feels natural

Forget about mastering the perfect lighting, composition or pose and capture a burst of in-the-moment reactions and experiences. You’ll get candid, spontaneous shots that tell a more authentic and visually compelling story. “We laugh so much just reacting to each other's personalities, so capturing the moment utilising the 10-second video wasn't tough,” Darnell and Camille say.

Get creative with your surroundings

Darnell and Camille not only managed to revisit the sculpture garden they strolled through on their first date—they also found a way to incorporate other mutual interests within the shot.
“We share a major obsession with ice cream and also love perspectives in art,” Darnell says. “We played with perspective and distance with the ice cream cone and the sculpture.”

Improvise if necessary

If the site of your OG special moment is off limits, shoot in a space where you can reenact the experience itself. Then tweak camera settings to replicate a similar ambience: “We couldn't re-create that fun moment at the bar itself, but because we love dancing, it wasn't hard to jam in our backyard! For this shot, we used the Night mode, which we loved! It was able to capture us in movement and sharpen the image after it processed.”
