I’ve recently started having problems with my HW-Q990D/XU it keeps losing connection with my TV one moment I have sound then I change channel ie bbc to prime video and I’ve lost sound, picture is unaffected. The only remedy seems to be is to disconnect power to soundbar and then reconnect power fixes the problem but you never know when it will happen again Same evening or days later it a real problem no fix yet awaiting answer. Samsung very reluctant to commit to a fix only interested in doing same fault diagnosis not getting anywhere.

After the lackluster performance of the Samsung Q70T soundbar, which in my opinion was quite a mediocre soundbar, I decided to look for an upgrade. The Q990D is the ultimate soundbar. The surround is excellent, the Dolby Atmos feature is incredible. Basically, everything I’ve always wanted in a sound bar that the Q 70T had failed to deliver on. Forget about the newer version that is Q990F, stick to Q990D. The best ultimate soundbar.

Samsung HW-Q990D a complete home cinema experience. I was sceptical about this being just a bar with sub and rears competing against full on home theater. So before buying did some research and decided to give it a go. And it delivers, very powerful sound stage. Adaptive sound converts almost any audio signal into true surround sound experience. Multi channels sound and Dolby Atmos is another level. Smart things App offers great control for further refinements. It is loud, very loud but without distortion. Wireless Sub is powerful still compact. Hight channels, love them they offer proper vertical surround sound experience whit correct input i.e. Dolby Atmos and DTS:X. I am very happy with my purchase and recommend it to anyone who is looking for great home cinema experience without going to the hassle of buying separate components for home cinema and then installation, setup, calibrations worries. Provided remote is good however backlit remote would have been great.

Naprosto skvělý soundbar, který dodá věrohodný zvuk. Basový reproduktor je přesný a vyvážený, zbytečně nehlučí ani neboří stěny. Kvalita zvuku jako taková mě velice mile překvapila. Vynikající prostorový zvuk, doporučuji všem.

Purchased the Q990D after seeing a cashback offer paired with a trade in offer on the Samsung website. Upgrading from one of Samsungs first Dolby Atmos soundbars, the HW-N950 which was already impressive, was a no brainer with the two offers making the Q990D almost a half price offer! Delivery was quick, although for a flagship model, you'd hope the packaging was a little more premium compared to just being packed in a brown cardboard box with underatated design/marketing. Installation was quick and easy and the speakers each connected effortlessly to the main bar and Wifi (using the SmartThings App helps). The sound quality is impressive in all cases, but when fed DTX or Dolby Atmos content, the soundbar really comes alive. Taking the volume over 20/100 is a guaranteed way to make enemies with your neighbours. The bass is powerful and can be felt as much as it can be heard. Again, the SmartThings app makes it easier to customise all the sound settings and levels for each speaker. Samsung releases a new soundbar each year and the updates/changes aren't always enough to warrant spending money to upgrade each year. Although the soundstage really is impressive, I've never really been able to experience overhead Atmos effects (even with speaker levels tweaked, speakers position correctly, and using Atmos content) - The side effects are good and you can really get a sense of the wideness of the soundstage, but height effects, in my opinion, are not quite there yet - but certainly 3D sound is there and I dont think any other soundbar does better for reflective height effects. There's a few other things I'd like to see to really make this a much better system. 1. A backlit remote control which has some additional buttons/shortcuts for switching to night mode/private rear mode and allows switching between user defined sound settings. 2. An improved LED screen on the soundbar instead of the small, dot-matrix ome that has featured and been complained about for a number of years now. 3. How about a PRO version which adds a couple of wireless, battery-powered overhead, clip on/off ceiling speakers for true overhead/atmos effects. That would be a game changer Samsung!
