i bought this in late october after being very impressed with a colleague's t5. i was disappointed with the t7 performance. it was fast but slower than t5. i barely owned it for 4 mos and the drive has already corrupted. i plugged it into my desktop last night and received and error. luckily i archived some work presentations to a cloud service. unfortunately i can't archive 600gb of data to the cloud. i have tried twice to put in a service request on the website and each time it keeps giving me an error and deletes the request. and trying to get in touch with live chat is nearly impossible. will now consider just paying for cloud service instead of buying this junk again.

Heb de touch T7 SDD besteld om backups te maken van mijn macbook pro. Had al positieve ervaring met een samsung T5, die ik gebruik als backup voor mijn foto's. Mijn broer had eens alle foto's op externe harde schijf die kapot ging en alles kwijtraakte. Ben er dus voorzichtig mee en SSD heeft geen bewegende onderdelen en is dus een veel veiligere opslag medium. Wilde dus SSD die en duidelijk ander uiterlijk had dan mijn T5. De nieuwe T7 is duidelijk anders en is ook nog een stuk sneller. Gebruik niet de touch optie, maar kon ook niet wachten op versie van T7 zonder de touch.

What really makes it awesome is the ability to connect it to my mac and Galaxy Note 9, both of which have native USB-c support, providing the fastest speeds. (I can't actually hit the expected speeds, but I believe that is a limitation of my 2017 Macbook) At 1 TB, it is huge! I can store movies, music,pictures, and still have room as a backup for my Mac. The finger print sensor is a nice plus, but I have not had a need for it just yet. Lastly, the Samsung app for my phone is very simple, allows you to set up security with or without the fingerprint sensor (or none), and also checks for any necessary software updates automatically.

SSD on kooltaan todella kompakti ja lupaava teknisesti. Ongelmani on se, että levy käy todella kuumana, ja voin veikata, että se ylittää mainostetun rajan vaikka sille ei kirjoiteta/siltä lueta mitään. Levy toimii ajoittain myös todella hitaasti. Pari vuotta vanhempi ulkoinen SSD toimii nopeammin ja varmemmin käytössä, vaikka teknisten tietojen perusteella näin ei pitäisi olla. Firmware-päivitys paransi asiaa vähän, mutta en ole edelleenkään tyytyväinen. Mietin, että onko kyseessä viallinen yksilö vai mikä tämän toiminnassa on vialla. Levy tuntuu myös jostain syystä saavan koneen tuulettimet huutamaan jos SSD:tä käytetään aktiivisesti. Mietin parhaillaan, että meneekö levy yhä takuun piiriin tai pystynkö palauttamaan sitä.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Terrible user experience! I received my T7 SSD several days ago. The hardware is good, but the software is poor. My system is macOS Catalina 10.15.3. I installed the Samsung Portable SSD 1.0 as the instructions on manual, but it cannot recognize my device and always shows 'DISCONNECTED'. I tried many methods to fix the issue, including downgrade the software. However,it is still not working. Without the software, the fingerprint ID is useless, and you cannot encrypt the device. All in all, don't buy T7 if you are using macOS!

I was a big fan of the T5 drives so I bought 3 to use as back ups to use on my Macbook. Spent hours trying to get the Samsung portable ssd software to recognize the drives despite the drives showing up in the finder. Finally got the software to work with Catalina only to find that the software didn't seem to talk to the rest of the computer. Renamed one in Samsung and it didn't change the name in finder. Renamed one in finder and it didn't change in Samsung. Then I set passwords in the Samsung software on 2 of the drives. I used the same password and you have to input it twice to make sure. One drive took the password the other doesn't unlock now. Luckily there's nothing on the drive yet but it's now unusable. I don't think I can trust these drives to work with Mac.

It was pretty small in size with capabilities of fast transfer and very secure (with fingerprinting). I have always been a fan of Samsung products and using this particular product has cemented my belief further. I would recommend this product to anyone who is looking to buy an SSD for secured storage with fast connectivity speeds. I was able to set it relatively easily with the steps involved pretty self-explanatory. The Samsung Magician software helped me understand the performance of the SSD and also gave me ideas on how to optimize it. The packing of the SSD was frustration-free and its small size is very convenient to carry and protect. The security features of this SSD are so far above than any other products in the market.

Mooie strakke vormgeving. Ik heb een MacBook Pro en het werkt er uitstekend op. Ik kreeg alleen het programma niet aan de praat om de Toch ID te activeren. In mijn geval maakt het niet uit maar het kan vervelend zijn voor diegene die de functie wel willen gebruiken. Ik ben erg te spreken over de snelheid van een SSD en dat gecombineerd met een klein formaat en een robuuste aluminium case. Het enige verder is dat de prijs wel er hoog ligt maar dat is te verwachten met een nieuwe generatie opslag.

I've been using this for over a year and love it. It's very small and portable and the fingerprint reader has never failed to recognize my print or recognized a print I didn't program into it. The transfer so speed is incredibly fast and the inclusion of 2 different cables make going from a phone to a TV or computer with a USB-C port quick and painless.

Ik heb deze maand de Samsung T7 Touch 1TB gekocht en ben er zeer tevreden over. De De SSD kan zonder moeite in een hele korte tijd veel grote bestanden verplaatsen. Precies wat ik nodig heb voor het bewerken van video's. Dankzij de vingerafdrukscanner zijn al mijn bestanden goed beveiligd. De T7 komt met software waarmee je gemakkelijk een wachtwoord in kan stellen en je vingerafdruk kan registreren. Verder is de SSD stevig en compact. De bouwkwaliteit is van hoge kwaliteit en ziet er premium uit. Bij de T7 zitten 2 kabels meegeleverd. 1 kabel is van USB-C naar USB-C hierdoor kun je hem gemakkelijk met je telefoon verbinden. Ook is dit een goede optie voor laptops met een USB-C poort. De andere kabel is USB-C naar USB-A. Deze super snelle en veilige SSD is naar mijn mening zijn prijs zeker waard.

But with this ssd (1tb) I was able to back up everything and if I wanted to because I still have a ton of space I can continue to use it for a long time. The security feature is cool because then no one can access your information and when the square lights up as it is copying files it gives you the technology feeling that you see the it people in movies. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] A few months ago I bought this to externally back up my phone so I would have a physical 'image', rather than all of my information in the cloud. As long as you have a partition that is not ntfs, you should be good to go on uploading your backup. I had to delete all of my information from roughly a 6 months' hiatus from backing up my device after malware downloaded itself on to the phone. It's no larger than a credit card and super portable.

I am very pleased with this device in it's entirety. The drive's body feels durable and well constructed and the performance is outstanding. I love the added security options (.i.e fingerprint reader and password). The drive is small in size and can easily fit in your pocket without noticing. I use this drive with an MSI GS66 Stealth laptop running Windows 10 Pro and have experience no issues whatsoever. Fantastic product Samsung!

Recently bought a new retina iMac with an internal fusion drive which is so slow. Bought and attached a 1TB T7 and now use that as the main boot drive to run all my design apps like photoshop and Illustrator which are now lightning fast. Much, much cheaper than buying Apple’s over-priced internal SSD drives, plus I’ve left the internal boot drive untouched so I have a spare incase of issues with the external.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am writing this review for the Portable SSD T7 TOUCH USB 3.2, which I purchased a year ago. About four months after purchase, I updated the SSD firmware, which unfortunately resulted in several issues. Whenever I tried to connect the device to my MacBook Pro 2019, the finder froze, and I had to force an erase. It was disappointing to realize that Samsung's troubleshooting tool only works on PC, as I had a Mac. Although I was able to get the device to work decently after the firmware update, I still experienced occasional freezing issues, especially when I tried to connect it to a computer other than mine. Windows didn't recognize it at all. One significant drawback that I encountered is that I was unable to use the fingerprint feature, as it caused the device to freeze. In summary, my experience with the Portable SSD T7 TOUCH USB 3.2 has been mixed, and I would recommend doing some research before buying.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Love this portable ssd drive. I don’t know what I like more-the lightening fast read write speed, or the fingerprint recognition access. My work involves a mix of 3D modeling, BIM and data analysis all of which are memory intensive and require a high even of security. The drive is so much faster than my laptops drive I work right off it, I store all my files and some of my programs on it and utilize it like an internal drive. I hit the save button and boom, a file that was taking 45 seconds to save to my laptop drive is saved to the ssd in the blink of an eye. The physical size makes it convenient to just pop into my tote to take to the office to be share files, and the inferprint ID helps me feel comfortable that my private info and data remains private and inaccessible. I would recommend this to anyone needing a whole lot of storage that can be accessed super fast and who want that data to remain private

The model I purchased is the "Touch" variant, which allows for quick access to the encrypted portion of the drive. It has by far been the most useful, safest data storage device I have ever purchased.

Depending on what operating systems you use this with, its OK, but not great. On MacOS it is not great. On my old MacBook Pro I could never eject it without force ejecting (which is always a little worrying). I assumed that was due to software I'd downloaded continuing to 'read' the SSD. However, on a new MacBook Air M2 with no software added yet (other than the Samsung software to access the SDD settings and security), I still need to force eject. The SSD works flawlessly with Android except Samsung Phones. On the Galaxy S10+ and now with my Galaxy S21 Ultra, as soon as you plug the SSD into the phone, you get a message to re-start your phone due to an issue with the SSD (though the SSD works fine and unmount). You have to re-start your phone to get rid of this persistent notification. This doesn't occur with other android phones. In my experience, Samsung products work fine with all other brands except other Samsung products...

Had this for two years now. Read/write speeds are great. But, the drive is always hot, even if I haven't been reading/writing to it. There's now some "ooze" visible on the drive seams, apparently this is some thermal compound designed to help the drive against overheating but now it's leaking. I have two T5 drives and they don't have this problem.

Hij is supersnel, compact, mooi design (ik heb de zwarte) en materiaal (aluminium). De onderscheidende feature t.o.v. de T5 is naast de snelheid ook de vingerafdrukscanner, deze werkt uitstekend en geeft extra beveiliging bij verlies of diefstal. Niet de allergoedkoopste 1tb SSD maar er is nog geen andere SSD met vingerafdrukscanner. Top!

Ik heb dit onlangs besteld en ben er zeer tevreden over, toen ik hem voor het eerst uit de doos haalde verschoot ik er onmiddellijk van hoe klein en compact die was. Hij verplaatste razendsnel mijn foto's vanaf mijn PC, ook de beveiliging is ook goed dankzij de vingerafdruk-sensor. De 1TB versie biedt genoeg ruimte voor mij persoonlijk.

i have an m1 mac book, i brought the t7 touch to save my confidential documents securely. unfortunately the samsung software does not recognize connect t7 ssd. sad, i can't use the touch and security until samsung updates the software for m1 macs. i saw great reviews about the product. my 1 star rating from my individual experience.

The T7 (and probably the same goes for the T5) used to work fine with the "old" Samsung Software. After an update by Samsung, the T7 isn't recognized anymore by MacOS. Samsung doesn't support a fix, so with a lot of problems you have to try and get back to the previous Samsung Software. This SSD is therefore not advised for MacOS.

Ik was al erg tevreden over de T5 maar nu met de T7 weer een stap beter. De snelheid is duidelijk te merken, perfect in combinatie met virtual machines. En de vingerafdruk scanner werkt als een zonnetje zou niet meer terug willen naar een los wachtwoord dat veilig moet zijn maar dus ook direct weer slecht te onthouden is.

Just received this SSD with 1 TB version and installed the original software on my MacBook Pro 13 2018. It is very important to press allow button on the security preferences menu, otherwise the Macbook will not recognise the software. The performance is amazing, the folder with the size of 26GB coppied for 30 seconds.

I bought this days ago and works as a charm. Having a USB-C cable as a simple connect let's me connect to my laptop and phone easily. Transferring stuff from my MicroSD to here was such a game changer as my new S23 Ultra had no slot so all the videos aren't lost. Honestly the quality of everything was fantastic.

Afgelopen week de samsung T7 zwart gekocht. Ik zocht een snelle SSD waarop een volledige foto bibliotheek geplaatst kon worden. De SSD bied voldoende ruimte en is 2 keer zo snel als de voorganger de T5. Tevens heeft deze SSD de mogelijkheid om toegang te verlenen middels wachtwoord en vingerafdruk beveiliging.

I have recently bought T7 touch mainly because of the security feature but it turns out that the password security or the finger print won't work if you are using a MacBook !! a huge let down after paying so much money for it. Just got this couple days ago. So far its good. Fast! Half the time loading games on my Xbox One X than my hdd external... But some reason im getting choppy and small glitch in my games while playing. Tried uninstall, re-install. Same glitches.

I am a full time Mom who takes a bunch of pictures daily and even though my iPhone has a lot of storage my iCloud cannot store an indefinite number of pictures and videos unfortunately unless I pay for that extra. With this little guy and 1 TB of storage I have a number of options to back up not only my media content but contacts, documents and movie downloads. I am also using this drive with my PC and with the added security this SSD has I can securely store our tax and banking information thanks to 256 AES encryption. I find it extremely convenient to use my fingerprint to unlock the drive and have a password backup just in case. All of that can be easily done by installing the software supplied on the drive itself (how clever!). The illuminated touch ID on the drive as I call it is a plus and I am thankful that all the needed USB-C cables were included with the drive. My number one choice to back up all of my content my kids create every day is Samsung Portable SSD T7 Touch from now on.

Doesn't work out of the box on Mac. There isn't an "Allow Apps Downloaded From" error to allow it, as per suggestions elsewhere. I have other brands of external hard drives which work just fine so I wouldn't bother/

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The performance of this device is unbeatable without compromising the security. The security settings are flexible to turn it off or on. Once I turned on the security it requested me to set the password and the fingerprint and works fine after that. But only issue, it ask me to update the software updates frequently even if I update in less than a day. Other than that I love the speed and compact design that fits into my packet just like a card. Setup - The setup is easy, It comes with a pre-build softwares based on the OS. The Samsung Portable SSD app has an easy interface but only problem is, it shows frequent updates and every time need to restart the OS to access SSD again. Security - I didn't face any slowness after I turned on the Fingerprint or password option. Disabling or enabling the fingerprint/security feature is easy. Design - The design and style is very compact that fits even inside a packet and occupies less space. Speed - The speed is amazing, I have an old 21.5 iMac that possible to update an hard drive or RAM. It really a good companion to store all my data without compromising the speed.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Between my "day job" and hobbies, I move a lot of data back and forth between multiple computers, this will be making my life much more convenient! Honestly the best two features about this is size and security. I almost think I could fit it in my wallet, if I had to. Also, the fingerprint reader provides an extra level of security for "sensitive" documents, and not remembering another password is nice! I have not run a full speed test to see how it compares in ideal situations, but I did compare it to a few of my drives on my main computer. Keep in mind speeds are heavily based on your hardware and connection, in this situation I do not have it setup ideally. My standard HDD had an average read/write speed of ~90 MB/s while this drive was close to 400. In terms of sequential read and write, it performed even better (again near 400, though my standard HDD was around 5 MB/s). The only minor complaint I have, is when I updated the software, I had to disable security mode, which erased my password and fingerprint. This is not a big deal as the update was quick and simple and its the only "not positive" thing I can think of!
