I have a Samsung Portable SSD T7 2TB that I have been using for a few years. Until recently I only checked its health with Samsung Magician, where everything always looked perfect (100% health, 0% wear). A few days ago I ran the software again and noticed very high numbers that concern me: Power Cycles: 340,897 Unsafe Shutdowns: 340,398 These two values are almost identical. I have read on various forums that this is a known behavior with the T7 due to the USB bridge counting sleep/wake events as power cycles. However, opinions are very mixed — some users say it’s harmless, while others worry it puts extra stress on the drive and can lead to premature failure of the USB controller. Since the drive is now out of warranty, I would really appreciate an official answer from Samsung on this matter: Is such a high Power Cycle count (over 340,000) considered normal/safe on the T7? Does this affect the long-term reliability of the drive? Can I still trust this T7 for important data, or should I be cautious? I couldn’t find any clear official statement about this behavior, so your clarification would be very helpful. Thank you in advance! Best regards, Dan

External storage does not work well for Android phones and tablets. My experience with the t7 for the galaxy s8 ultra tablet, the volume is recognized, but a message appears every once in a while asking you to restart the tablet, and the device is disconnected more than once. As for the s23 ultra, the t7 never connects to the device and does not recognize it, and the link to the program that came with the box is not compatible with the type, and even the application in Google does not recognize the external storage unit. Likewise, with the s21 ultra, the s8+, and the oppo z2, the same problem was that the connection was unstable.

My computer only came with about 300GB of storage, so this was a game changer for me. I also had a lot of pictures and videos on my game console that needed to be stored somewhere else to free up space, and this SSD was the perfect thing for that too! It's write speeds are much faster than an older external hard drive I had, along with pretty much all of my USB drives. I now save most of the videos that I make on the SSD. And 2TB is such a large amount of storage to me, I've basically made it my secondary storage unit now! 10/10 product!

It's literally smaller than my wallet. It was a breeze to set up and now I feel so secure if I misplace. Aluminum case is sturdy and won't crack or damage from a small drop like some of my others I've purchased in the past. I was able to bring my workload home without having to lug the different devices I use there and still have my downloaded PS4 games loaded with tons more space still available. The speed loaded at the same rate from first file to file 247 I currently have loaded. I would definitely recommend and will be purchasing one for my son as well.

Terrible. Il existe un gros défaut de conception dans la prise meme USB-C. Le contact n'et pas franc. Le format USB 1 était bin plus contactant. Du coup il se déconnecte de manière incompréhensible. Je recommande ce produit pour son concept et sa vitesse de transfert sur papier, mais une fois entre nos mains, il devient un objet impossible à toucher par peur qu'il se déconnecte. C'est nul de la part des gens qui sont des ingénieurs incapable de concevoir des formats fiables. On préférerait tous une version avec un "Click" indiquant un contact à 100% indéconnectable.

Using Samsung Magic to do benchmark, I get Sequential Read: 44mbs Sequential Write 36 mbs Random Read 7324 IOPS Random Write 5371 IOPS I don't know a ton about this stuff but here's a perfect example of the performance: On steam, it took 45 mins to allocate space on this ssd for Dead Space Remake, and Hogwarts Legacy. On my basic WD HDD, it happened so quickly I almost thought it didn't. I dunno if this drive is defective but.....I will probably never buy a Samsung drive, again. First impressions are everything.... I mean, yall used to make good CRT tvs hahaha

Scenario 1 (PC Environment) Your PC's USB Type C Port must support USB 3.2 Gen 2 (10Gbps) in order to fully utilize the speed of the T7. USB 3.0 Gen.1, USB 3.1 Gen 1. USB 3.2 Gen.1 are restricted to 5Gbs speeds any may be the bottleneck to the performance of your T7. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought one of these to use as the boot/root file-system harddisk on a Raspberry Pi 4+ (RPi) running linux to get better performance than using a sd-card or USB thumb drive. It's been working just great since received and while a RPi isn't extremely fast the disk improves boot time and the database speed for the e-mail spam filtering software on the RPi making it easier to use and monitor. System update performance is also better. The 2D footprint of the disk is almost the same as the RPi and the disk doesn't need additional external power, just a USB cable. So the two combine well without needing a massive brick external USB disk that needs it's own power supply connected to the RPi. The whole RPi and SSD T7 disk assembly is easily portable as a result.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've been a fan of Samsung's portable SSDs ever since I got my first 256GB T3 drive 4 years ago. I must say, the T7 is a great upgrade. The size of the unit is roughly the size of a credit card and only 8mm thin making it so easy to slide into a pocket of your clothing or bag and take it anywhere. The built-in hardware encryption is a great feature. There is even a read-only partition on the drive that includes the installation software for when you need to access the drive on a new computer. My own personal speed tests gave 1004.6 MB/s read and 915.93 MB/s write (Blazing fast!!). The NVMe technology has certainly given this drive a leg up over the older Samsung models. The SSD also stayed cool during even extended transfer sessions. Would highly recommend.

Si le logiciel n'arrive pas à voir le disque sur Mac OS c'est psk lors de l'installation ils demandent des autorisations. Si elles ne sont pas autorisé la première fois ce sera impossible. Le seul moyen c'est de désinstaller l'app, d'éteindre le Mac de passer en mode recovery (rester appuyer sur le bouton ou cmd r au démarrage) puis d'ouvrir le disque et de donner accès aux app tiers puis de redémarrer le Mac et réinstaller l'app.

i love samsungs internal ssd drives, and i was looking forward to using this. however, the software turned out to be buggy and very unreliable. i setup the drive and set a password. i saved the password, logged out and then back in without issue. i then safely ejected the drive via windows. when i went to use it next, samsungs software refused to accept the password.

Voorheen gebruikte ik altijd externe HDD's voor het opslaan van data. Normaliter is dit prima. Nu wilde ik echter een backup maken van vrij veel data voor een herinstallatie, en het heeft zo ontzettend lang geduurd voordat al deze data eindelijk eens weggeschreven was... Met deze externe SSD heb ik daar geen last meer van! Kopiëren van data gaat nu veel sneller! Vooral folders met veel kleine bestandjes wisten mijn HDD op zijn knieën te krijgen, maar niet deze SSD! Ook het formaat is veel kleiner dan ik dacht! Ongeveer ter grootje van een pasje, maar dan iets dikker. Super makkelijk mee te nemen dus! Ook ben ik niet meer bang om het ding mee te nemen in mijn tas, iets dat toch altijd wel knaagde met mijn HDD's, vanwege de bewegende delen en de gevoelige aard van HDD's. Al met al zeer tevreden, ook al zijn deze SSD's nog steeds wel wat duurder dan HDD's. Je krijgt er voor deze hogere prijs immers wel meer voor terug!

Ik had al de variant met 1TB. Maar doordat hij goed was, zat hij zo vol. Daarom deze ter uitbreiding gekocht. Echt fijn dat er twee soorten (goede) snoertjes bij zitten. Only the concern I experience is to be careful while using because the drive body is made of metal and if it accidently drops at floor, it will be dent easily and may be damaged.

Cannot transfer files from iPad to the ssd. The first time I used it, only 2900 out of 3200 photos were transferred. The second time I tried it, it says png file cannot be loaded. Not to mention the speed (both read and write) does not even reach 10% of what the product info page says.

This product is the worse SSD in the market. It last about three weeks then it starts to over heat. It begins to crash programs that are on the drive also don’t try to back up anything over 75gbs you will get transfer interruption please try again while it’s half way through.
