AUCKLAND, New Zealand – 29 April, 2025 – Samsung Electronics New Zealand is hosting two free drive-through collection events this May, giving Aucklanders an easy way to responsibly dispose of unwanted electronics. Those looking to declutter and keep e-waste out of landfills can drop their items at Eden Park on Saturday May 3^rd or at Smales Farm on Saturday May 10^th. 

 

Samsung has again partnered with New Zealand’s largest e-waste disposal company, Echo, to accept a wide variety of electronics from computers and TVs, to heat pumps and whiteware¹. The drive-through collection events are completely cost-free to provide an easy, local solution for recycling and disposing of old electronics. With e-waste being notoriously difficult and expensive to dispose of, the drives aim to reduce the amount of electronic waste being sent to landfills.

To thank participants for recycling their e-waste responsibly, Samsung will be providing $50 e-vouchers to spend on samsung.com/nz². Simply scan the QR code provided upon drop-off and a voucher will be sent via email within 5 days.

 

Samsung’s e-waste collection events in October last year were a major success. Seeing over 1,240 cars across two locations, the events were able to divert an impressive 32,839 kgs of e-waste from landfills. With its first round of events this year, Samsung continues to highlight the growing issue of electronic waste and promote responsible e-waste management through these initiatives.

 

Staff at both locations will unload and remove visitor’s old electronics straight from the vehicle, allowing visitors to drive through and drop-off easily without having to leave their car. Those willing to attend can RSVP via the Facebook event pages (here↗ for Eden Park or here↗ for Smales Farm) or simply drive to the designated drop-off points at either of the below locations from 9am - 3pm on Saturday, May 3^rd and 10^th.
