Galaxy S8: How to Perform a Software Update

The Software Update menu allows you to download the latest Software or alternatively, schedule a time to download the latest software and check for any updates. 

How to perform a Software update on the S8/S8+Click to Expand
1 Go to the Settings menu → Software update

2 Tap Download updates manually to check for any updates.

3 Please wait a moment while device checks for updates.

4 If your device already has the latest software installed, the below screen will be displayed.

5 When an update is available, you may tap on Later to download the Software Update at a later time, or you may tap Download to start the download process straight away.

6 Download is in progress. (Important Note: It is strongly recommended to ensure that your device has a strong Internet connection whilst downloading the update to avoid any loss of Internet. This may result in software corruptions. Do not power off or restart your device during this process).

7 The latest software update is ready to be installed. Choose from the following options:

Later - Postpone the latest software update at your convenience.

Install Overnight - The update will be installed between 2:00 AM and 5:00 AM.

Install Now - Install the latest software update now.

8 Please wait a few minutes until the latest software update is being applied to your Galaxy S8.

Once finished, your device will restart.

9 Your device has successfully been updated and is now ready to be used again.
