If you think there is an issue with your Samsung Air conditioner, you can use Smart Install mode to perform a diagnostic test. This will determine if there is an operational or installation issue with your Air conditioner, which will be represented by a numerical error code on the Air conditioner’s display panel.

Note: Smart Install mode may not be available on some Air conditioner models.

To activate Smart Install mode, you need to press three buttons on the Air conditioner’s remote control.

1 Point the remote control at the Air conditioner, and then press and hold the Power, Mode, and SET buttons simultaneously for about 5 to 7 seconds.

2 The Air conditioner will begin running the self diagnostic test. This will take between 7 to 13 minutes to complete. The Air conditioner’s LEDs may blink during the test.

Note: The remote control cannot be operated during Smart Install mode.

3 Check the numbers on the panel in the lower right corner. The numbers will begin with 0 and increase until the display reaches 99. If there are no errors, then the numbers will reach 99 without any interruptions and a ringing sound will occur.

4 If there is an error, the Air conditioner will stop counting to 99 and display a letter, followed by a series of numbers. Some examples of this include the following:
  • C4 22
  • C1 01
  • C1 54

If the Air conditioner is not cooling properly, but there are no errors found during Smart Install, a dusty or dirty filter may be causing the cooling issues. In this case, you can try cleaning the filter.

Note: You should also clean the filter when the filter-cleaning reminder notification (CF) appears on the display.

1 First, slide the filter off of the Air conditioner.
