How to update the Samsung Soundbar

Updating the firmware on your soundbar helps you experience the latest improvements. You can update a Samsung Soundbar by using a USB drive or the SmartThings app.

IMPORTANT: The update function erases all the previous user settings. We recommend you to write down your settings so that you can easily reset them after the update.

Update the Soundbar via USB

You can update the soundbar by connecting a USB drive that contains the update firmware to the USB port of the soundbar.

Step 1. Go to Samsung Support and search for the model name.

Step 2. Download the upgrade file (USB type) and unzip the file to create a folder with the file name.

Step 3. Turn on the soundbar.

Step 4. Connect the USB to the soundbar. Then, the product will be updated within 3 minutes and will display UPDATE.

Note:

  • During the update, do not turn it off or remove the USB stick.
  • In the case of a model that can play USB files, it can be updated only when changing to the USB source.
  • Depending on the USB type, the update may not be supported. If the update does not install, try using a different device.
  • If “UPDATE” does not appear on the display, remove the power cord from the soundbar and then reconnect it.
  • If the latest version is installed, no update will be performed.

Update a Soundbar via SmartThings

Connecting your soundbar to SmartThings allows you to control it from your mobile device. You can change the volume and connect the speakers to a synchronized surround system. You can even play your favorite song every time you open the front door.

Step 1. Make sure your soundbar is connected to the Wi-Fi network using SmartThings.

Step 2. Open the SmartThings app on your mobile device and select the soundbar to access its control menu.

Step 3. Tap the More options icon (three dots) in the top right corner of the screen.

Step 4. Select Information and then tap Firmware Update.

Step 5. Tap Update Now. Keep the Auto Update switch activated if you want to use the auto update function.

Step 6. Follow the on screen directions until it says the update is complete.

When the soundbar is connected to the Internet, software updates automatically occur even when the soundbar is turned off. To use the Auto Update function, the soundbar must be connected to the Internet. The Wi-Fi connection to the Soundbar will be terminated if the Soundbar’s power cord is disconnected or the power is cut off. If the power is cut off, when the power comes back on or you reconnect the power cord, turn on the Soundbar, and then reconnect it to the Internet.
