Basic Troubleshooting Tips for Galaxy Mobile Devices

Issues with your mobile phone can result from a variety of factors. If it is a hardware issue, you may need to send your phone for a servicing. However, you may want to try a few simple troubleshooting steps to see if the issue can be resolved before heading down to a service centre.

Soft Reset (Force Restart)

Hold Volume Down key + Side key simultaneously for at least 7 seconds. Your phone will shut down and restart itself.

Clear Your App Cache

Go to Settings > Battery and device care > Optimize now.

Software Update

Go to Settings > Software update > Download and install.

Reset Settings

Go to Settings > General Management > Reset > Reset all settings > Reset settings.

Use Safe Mode to Troubleshoot

How to turn on Safe Mode

Step 1. Press and hold the hold Volume Down key + Side key.

Step 2. Select Power off.

Step 3. After the screen turns off, press and hold Volume Down key + Side key at the same time.

Step 4. Once the Samsung logo appears on screen, release the Side key, while holding the Volume down key.

Step 5. When Safe mode appears on the lower left corner of the screen, release the key.

If the issue is resolved in Safe Mode, it suggests that a third-party app is causing it.

 

How to remove third-party apps

Step 1. Go to Settings > Apps.

Step 2. Identify any apps that you recently downloaded or don’t recognise.

Step 3. Select Uninstall > OK.

 

Turn Off Safe Mode

Factory reset

Go to Settings > General Management > Reset > Factory data reset > Reset.

Service centre wait time
