How to use Routines on your Samsung Galaxy device
Galaxy Routines lets you automate your phone's behaviour by running preset actions when specific conditions are met. You can learn about what Galaxy Routines are, the different types available, how to create and organise routines, and how to check whether a routine is currently running on your device.
Note:
- On Android 14 and Android 13, features previously in the Bixby Routines app are available under Settings > Modes and Routines, where you can organise Modes and Routines.
- On Android 12 and Android 11, routines are provided through the Bixby Routines app.
How to show the Routines app on the Apps screen
You can display the Routines app on the Apps screen by enabling the appropriate option in the Modes and Routines settings.
How to add a Galaxy routine
You can quickly add a recommended routine and adjust its settings to match your daily schedule. You can also create a custom routine by selecting the conditions and actions you want. The routine runs automatically when the set conditions are met.
1. Recommended routines
The Routines menu includes recommended routines such as commuting to work, leaving work, or preparing for sleep. You can edit these routines to suit your preferences. If you turn on Customised services under Routines > More > Settings, your phone analyses usage patterns and allows conditions such as waking up, before sleeping, sleeping, driving, and travelling abroad.
2. Custom routines
Custom routines allow you to manually set your own conditions and actions. When the specified conditions are met, the phone automatically performs the actions you configured.
How to check whether a Galaxy routine is running
If an app or feature suddenly starts or becomes restricted during phone use, it may be caused by a routine you previously set. Check whether a routine is currently running, and review its conditions and actions if needed.
1. Checking from the Now bar
When a mode is activated, you can check the active mode in the Now bar on the lock screen.
2. Checking from the Quick panel
3. Check from the app
Note: Menu names, paths, and screen layouts may vary depending on your device model, software version, or app version.
