What to do when your Samsung Galaxy device battery drains faster

Last Update date : Nov 24. 2025

Your Galaxy device may consume battery faster due to environmental conditions, background apps, or the condition of the battery. Follow the cases and solutions below to maintain stable performance and extend battery life.

Note: The battery is a consumable component. With repeated charging and discharging, its capacity will gradually decrease, and the reduced capacity cannot be restored.

Reasons why your Galaxy device’s battery drains quickly

Initial setup period

When you first start using your Galaxy phone, battery consumption may temporarily increase. This is because various apps and services are being optimised during the first few days. Once optimisation is complete, the battery usage will normalise.

Weak network signal

When your network connection is unstable, call quality and signal strength may decrease, which can result in faster battery drain.

Note:

  • You can move to an area with a stronger signal to reduce battery consumption.
  • Regularly restarting your phone can help reduce battery consumption.
  • Restarting your phone occasionally also helps maintain optimal performance.

How to reduce battery drain

1. Reduce battery drain by switching off unused functions and apps

Applications that use auto sync, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or GPS can increase battery consumption. Switch them off when they’re not in use.

Step 2. Switch off features that are not in use, such as Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.

Note: Apps in power saving mode will have limited notifications or background activity.

2. Use Device optimisation to improve battery performance

Device optimisation removes unnecessary files and background apps, helping to reduce battery consumption and improve overall performance.

  • Sleeping mode apps may not refresh or send notifications immediately.
  • Deep sleeping apps do not run in the background at all and only work when opened manually.

4. Turn on Power saving mode to reduce battery consumption

When Power saving mode is turned on, your phone restricts background data use for unused apps and disables high power features such as Always On Display to extend battery life. You can also customise options like limiting CPU speed, lowering screen brightness, or turning on Dark mode as needed. Infrequently used apps can be set to Power saving mode, so they don’t run automatically in the background.
