What is ‘Reset with previous lock,’ and how can I use it if I forget my new PIN or password?

To use the Reset function with your previous screen lock, follow these steps:
First, set a new PIN, password, or pattern within 72 hours. You can choose to include biometrics or not. Second, remember your previously set PIN, password, or pattern. Your previous PIN, password, or pattern will remain stored unless you choose to delete it when setting up your new one. This feature is available on Galaxy S24 series phones after a software update, or other models running One UI 6.1 software.
If you enter your PIN, password, or pattern incorrectly five times, you'll see a menu to enter your previous PIN, password, or pattern.
To set up or delete your previous PIN, password, or pattern, follow these instructions:
When setting a new PIN, password, or pattern, you'll see a screen asking if you want to delete your previous PIN, password, or pattern immediately. If you leave this option unselected, your previous PIN, password, or pattern will be saved for 72 hours. If you select this option, your previous PIN, password, or pattern will be deleted immediately. Alternatively, you can find a feature called "Delete previous 3P (PIN, Password, Pattern)" in your phone's "Secure lock settings," under "Lock screen and AOD" settings. Selecting "Delete" will remove your previously stored PIN, password, or pattern for 72 hours.

If you've forgotten your previous PIN, password, or pattern, you'll need to visit a Samsung service center. They can help you perform a factory reset after verifying your identity. Please note: a factory reset will erase all data on your device. Remember to back up your important files regularly. At the service center, unlocking your device without deleting your data isn't possible; a factory reset is required.
