Customer Warning - Samsung Lottery and Samsung Job Offer Scams

Scam warning for Samsung Customers

Samsung has received several reports of recent scams involving UK consumers. These fraudulent correspondences often carry Samsung’s name and logo and appear to be authorised communications from Samsung.

 

In light of these incidents, Samsung would like to encourage customers to exercise particular vigilance when interacting with third parties over email, internet, phone or text message.

 

Fraudulent third parties representing themselves as Samsung may attempt to gain your personal or financial information or exploit you for financial gain.

Recent examples

  • Lottery prize: Email, SMS, WhatsApp or Messenger message claiming that recipient has won the lottery. Recipients are asked to provide personal contact details or make a payment to claim the prize.

 

  • Job offer: Online advert is placed to recruit for factory workers. Respondent is asked to pay a fee (e.g. for a uniform or background checks) before receiving a job offer. 

Please note: These are scams or phishing attempts. They are not genuine. Samsung does not send unsolicited messages or make phone calls which claim the recipient has won a prize, or to request personal or financial information. Samsung does not ask any potential employees to pay a fee before being offered a job. 

What should I do if I suspect a message to be a scam?

Recipients of these messages should report them to the police and not respond to them. Do not click on any links. Reports of scams received by Samsung are reported to the police.
