How to update the firmware / Software on a Samsung TV

Smart TV firmware updates are designed to enhance features, fix bugs, and sometimes add new applications. You can update your TV firmware either by using a USB drive or through an internet connection.

Note:

  • Screen & Images are simulated.
  • All third-party logos/marks are trademarks/registered of respective third-party brands
  • Do not turn off the TV's power until the update is complete. The TV will turn off and on automatically after completing the update. Video and audio settings may be reset to defaults after a software update.
  • TV menu options may vary by model

1 From the Home screen, press left button on the remote.

2 Navigate to and select Settings.

3 Select All Settings.

4 Navigate to and select Support.

5 Select Software Update.
6 Select Update Now. Follow the on-screen instructions to finish the update.

Note: You can also select Auto Update. Your TV will receive automatic updates.

If your Samsung TV is not connected to a network, you can download the latest software file from the Samsung website and save it to a USB flash drive. Then, you can connect the USB flash drive to your TV to perform the update.

Notes:

  • Save the downloaded software file in the USB drive’s top-level folder. Otherwise, the TV will not be able to locate the update package.
  • If there are multiple files, place all of the files in the USB drive’s top-level folder.
1 On your TV, navigate to Settings> All Settings > Support.
2 Select About TV to find your Model Code.

3 Using a TV, visit the Manual & Software page. Next, enter the model code to access the support page for your specific model. You can also select your product type and then search for your product.

4 Select the desired software file, and then select Download

5 Allow the download to complete. When the file has finished downloading, locate it and then unzip it. There is normally one folder inside but there may be multiple files.

6 Next, connect a USB flash drive to your computer. Copy or move all of the files that were included in the zip file to the USB flash drive, but do not place them inside any other folders. If you place the software folders inside a folder on the USB flash drive, the TV or monitor will not find them.

7 Insert the USB flash drive into a USB port on your TV.

8 Follow the prompts to update the software. Alternatively, navigate to Settings, then select All Settings, and then select . Select Software Update, and then select Update Now.

Note: The update will take at least 10 minutes to complete. The TV will restart automatically afterward. Do not turn off the TV or remove the USB flash drive until the update is complete.
