Galaxy Watch9 vs Watch Ultra2: Design and durability
The Galaxy Watch9 measures 8.6mm thick and comes in 40mm and 44mm sizes, with a 1.34-inch display on the 40mm and a 1.47-inch display on the 44mm, both reaching up to 3,000 nits. Battery capacity is 390mAh on the 40mm and 445mAh on the 44mm, delivering up to 30 hours with the Always On Display on, and it carries 5ATM water resistance, IP68 and MIL-STD-810H certification for everyday wear.
The Galaxy Watch Ultra2 is built for tougher conditions in a 47mm titanium case that is 12% thinner than the previous generation, with a band that is 26% lighter thanks to a new air pocket structure. Its 1.52-inch display reaches up to 5,000 nits, so stats stay readable in direct sunlight and through sunlit water. Durability improves with a 10ATM rating (100m water resistance), IP69K and EN13319 dive certification, making it dive-ready for recreational diving down to 40 metres. The 800mAh battery delivers up to 60 hours of use, and reaches 40% in around 30 minutes with fast charging.
Galaxy Watch9 vs Watch Ultra2: Health and fitness tracking
Both watches include the AI-powered Samsung Health features: Sleep Apnea detection, Vitals, Heart Health Score, Daily Cardio Load, Fitness Index and Hearing, all captured through our BioActive Sensor. On the Galaxy Watch9, Vitals tracks heart rate, heart rate variability, respiratory rate, skin temperature, and blood oxygen during sleep, and Sleep Coaching learns your patterns over three to four weeks to guide better rest.
The Galaxy Watch Ultra2 adds specialized sports tracking on top of that shared foundation. Its Trail Run feature tracks detailed elevation, climbing progress, and terrain impact to help you pace yourself and reduce injury risk, while Nutrition Alert estimates sweat loss relative to body weight to guide hydration. It also supports professional diving, automatically recording depth, dive time, and water temperature, with advanced diving tools developed with Mares, including ascent and descent rates and safety decompression time, arriving later this year.
Galaxy Watch9 vs Galaxy Watch8: What's upgraded?
The Galaxy Watch9 introduces the new Snapdragon Wear Elite Platform, replacing the Watch8's Exynos W1000, for a notable step up in speed and efficiency. Battery capacity grows to 390mAh on the 40mm, around 20% larger than the previous model, while the 44mm carries a 445mAh cell. The familiar cushion design, 1.34-inch and 1.47-inch display sizes and up to 3,000 nits of brightness all carry over, so the look and feel stay consistent, and durability remains 5ATM, with an IP68 rating
