Introducing the Galaxy Watch9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra2: key specifications & features revealed
The Galaxy Watch9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra2 are the newest additions to Samsung's smartwatch lineup, unveiled at the Galaxy Unpacked event on 22nd July, 2026. The Galaxy Watch9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra2 are the first Galaxy Watches powered by the Snapdragon Wear Elite chipset, delivering faster, more efficient performance than the Exynos W1000 it replaces.
Battery life has improved across the board too. The Galaxy Watch Ultra2's 800mAh battery is a sizable jump from the original Galaxy Watch Ultra's 590mAh cell, while the Galaxy Watch9's 390mAh battery (40mm) marks a substantial increase over the Galaxy Watch8's 325mAh battery in the same size. Let’s take a closer look at the key upgrades on these newly launched Galaxy Watches.
Galaxy Watch Ultra2: what’s new
Successor to Galaxy Watch Ultra (First Gen), the Galaxy Watch Ultra2 is Samsung's most rugged smartwatch, made for people who train, dive and explore. The Galaxy Watch Ultra2 is built for adventure. With a larger battery, brighter display and rugged durability, it's suited to trail runs, dives and long days outdoors.
Performance and battery
The Galaxy Watch Ultra2 runs on the Snapdragon Wear Elite platform, giving it the power to handle continuous health tracking, GPS and connected features without slowing down. Its 800mAh battery is the largest in the lineup, built to last through long outdoor sessions and multi-day use.
Display and design
At 47mm, the Galaxy Watch Ultra2 has a bold, adventure-ready presence on the wrist. Its display reaches up to 5,000 nits, staying clear and readable even in direct sunlight. The build is thinner than its predecessor, and the band has been made lighter for a more comfortable fit.
Durability and water resistance
The Galaxy Watch Ultra2 is rated 10ATM for water resistance and carries an IP69K rating for protection against dust and high-pressure water jets. It also meets EN13319 diving certification and MIL-STD-810H standards for resilience against drops, extreme temperatures and rough handling.
New health and adventure features
The Galaxy Watch Ultra2 introduces Trail Run tracking, giving runners detailed insight into pace, elevation and terrain. Automatic dive tracking activates when you enter the water, and Mares diving support brings dive-specific data for divers.
