How to register or remove fingerprints in Galaxy Tab S?

In order for fingerprint recognition to function, your fingerprint information needs to be registered and stored in your device.

 

Please note:

• This feature may not be available depending on the region or service provider

• If fingerprint method is used as a screen lock, it cannot be used to unlock the screen when turning on the device. To use the device, you must unlock the screen using a pattern, PIN, or password being set when registering the fingerprint. Be careful not to forget your pattern, PIN, or password

• If your fingerprint is not recognised, unlock the device using the pattern, PIN, or password being set when registering the fingerprint, and then re-register your fingerprints. If your pattern, PIN, or password is forgotten, you will not be able to use the device if you do not reset it. Samsung is not responsible for any data loss or inconvenience caused by forgotten unlock codes


 

To register fingerprints:

1 On the Apps screen, tap Settings > DEVICE > Finger Scanner > Fingerprintmanager
2 If you are registering more fingerprints, a fingerprint recognition pop-up windowappears. Scan a registered fingerprint on the device and tap +
3 Place your finger on the fingerprint area at the bottom centre of the screen
4 Tap and hold the screen in the fingerprint area, and then drag your finger downwards over the Home button
Register Fingerprints
5 If a pop-up window appears requesting a password, enter the alternative password and tapCONTINUE. Enter the alternative password again to verify it, and then tap OK. You canuse the alternative password instead of scanning your fingerprints
6 If a fingerprint lock pop-up window appears, tap OK. You can use your fingerprints to unlock the screen

To deregister fingerprints:

1 Power on your tablet
2 Tap Apps > Settings > Device
3 Scroll down and select Finger Scanner
4 Tap Fingerprint manager
Tap Fingerprint Manager
5 Key in your alternative password (Swipe on the home button if it prompt to do so to access the settings)
Key in Alternative Password
6 Tap on the icon at the top right hand corner and select Deregister
Select Deregister
7 Select on the Fingerprint that you wish to remove
Select Fingerprint to remove
8 Tap on the BIN Icon on the top right hand corner and press OK to remove
Deregister the selected Fingerprint

You can change the password that you use as an alternative to scanning your fingerprints. To change the alternative password, follow these steps:

1 On the Apps screen, tap Settings > DEVICE > Finger Scanner > Change alternative/backuppassword
2 Scan a registered fingerprint, or tap the Keyboard + Lock Icon and enter the alternative/backup password
3 Enter a new password and tap CONTINUE
4 Enter the password again and tap OK

To register fingerprints:

1 On the Settings screen, tap Lock screen and security > Fingerprints
2 Unlock the screen using the preset screen lock method. If you have not set a screen lock method, create one
3 Tap Add fingerprint
4 Place your finger on the Home key
5 After the device detects your finger, lift it up and place it on the Home key again.Repeat this action by moving your finger upwards or downwards until the fingerprint isregistered

To deregister fingerprints:

1 On the Settings screen, tap Lock screen and security > Fingerprints
2 Unlock the screen using the preset screen lock method
3 Tap EDIT
4 Tick fingerprints to delete and tap REMOVE

To register fingerprints:

1 SM-T820: On the Settings screen, tap Biometrics and security → Fingerprint Scanner
SM-T825: On the Settings screen, tap Lock screen and security > Fingerprints
2 Unlock the screen using the preset screen lock method. If you have not set a screen lock method, create one
3 Place your finger on the Home key
4 After the device detects your finger, lift it up and place it on the Home key again. Repeat this action by moving your finger upwards or downwards until the fingerprint is registered

To deregister fingerprints:

1 SM-T820: On the Settings screen, tap Biometrics and security → Fingerprint Scanner
SM-T825: On the Settings screen, tap Lock screen and security > Fingerprints
2 Unlock the screen using the preset screen lock method
3 Tap EDIT
4 Tick fingerprints to delete and tap REMOVE
