In a strategic move first launching in Hong Kong SAR to broaden its ecosystem, Samsung has partnered with UnionPay International and Bank of China (Hong Kong) (“BOCHK”). This collaboration will offer users greater flexibility and convenience for their daily transactions through the "NFC-QRC all-in-one" solution, providing two different payment methods - NFC payments and QR code payments[1] - into Samsung Wallet[2], based on users’ needs.

Samsung Wallet is at the forefront of digital innovation, transforming users’ smartphones into secure and versatile digital wallets, where users can organize their essentials into one single app - from important credentials like credit cards, ID cards, bank accounts and passwords to on-the-go items like house keys, car keys, transit, tickets and boarding passes. Protected by Samsung’s multi-layered security platform, Samsung Knox, it stores sensitive information in an isolated environment protected by fingerprint recognition and encryption, which offers an extra layer of defense against potential hacking attempts.

Simply through a quick verification process on their Samsung Wallet app, users can add their UnionPay Credit Card issued by BOCHK, the inaugural participating bank, to enjoy seamless and secure NFC payment. Launching in the second quarter of this year, the QR code payment function will be convenient for frequent travel to destinations like the Greater Bay Area where QR code payments are widely used, simplifying local and cross-border transactions alike.
