How to use PC Diagnostics on your Samsung Galaxy Book6
PC Diagnostics is a Samsung app that tests several components of your PC and helps you check for possible problems. You can run PC Diagnostics in Windows or even when Windows does not boot.
Note:
- PC Diagnostics is available on Galaxy Book6, Galaxy Book5, and Galaxy Book4 models.
- Supported models may change. For Galaxy Book5 and Galaxy Book4, search for and install the PC Diagnostics app from Microsoft Store.
- PC Diagnostics may not diagnose or resolve some PC problems.
Run PC Diagnostics when Windows does not boot
If Windows does not boot, you can still run PC Diagnostics using one of two methods. Select either the BIOS method or the F5 key method, then follow the steps below.
Run PC Diagnostics from BIOS
Use this method to open PC Diagnostics from the BIOS settings screen.
01. Press the Power key on your Galaxy Book to turn it on.
02. Before the Samsung logo appears, press and release the F2 key repeatedly to enter BIOS.
Note: Keyboard layout may vary by model or type of language.
03. On the BIOS settings screen, select Advanced.
04. Select PC UEFI Diagnostics.
05. PC UEFI Diagnostics opens.
Run PC Diagnostics using the F5 key
Use this method to open PC Diagnostics directly while the PC is starting.
01. Press the Power key on your Galaxy Book to turn it on.
02. Before the Samsung logo appears, press and release the F5 key repeatedly.
03. PC UEFI Diagnostics opens.
Install and run PC Diagnostics
You can run PC Diagnostics from Windows by searching for the app on the taskbar. You can also open it from Device Care if PC Diagnostics is already installed.
01. In the Search box on the desktop taskbar, search for PC Diagnostics, then run the app.
Note:
- You can also open Device Care, then select PC Diagnostics in the lower left of the screen. (This option is available only when the PC Diagnostics app is installed.)
- If the User Account Control window appears, select Yes.
02. When PC Diagnostics opens, select Test all, or select the item you want to test.
Learn about the PC Diagnostics app
PC Diagnostics includes Diagnostics, Information, and options that help you enable disabled devices during diagnosis. Use these sections to check whether your PC is working properly and to review system details.
Diagnostics
In the Diagnostics tab, you can run tests by item to check whether your PC is working properly. A total of 17 items can be tested, but the available items may vary by model.
Note: Test items: Mainboard, Cooling fan, Motion detection sensor, Light sensor, Storage, Touchpad, Touch screen, Keyboard, Speaker, Microphone, Camera, AC adapter, Battery, Fingerprint, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Cellular.
When all tests pass
When all items are completed without problems, a blue check mark appears.
When a test has a problem
If a test item has a problem, the item appears in orange with an exclamation mark in the full Diagnostics list.
On the test item page, an orange error message appears. Select Test again to run the test for that item again.
When restarting a test
If you stop diagnosis before it is complete, select Start all diagnostics. You can select Continue testing or Restart testing from the beginning.
Information
The Information tab shows system information for your PC, including the model name, BIOS version, serial number, CPU, memory, graphics driver, storage, audio, network, and the PC Diagnostics app version.
Change disabled devices
If a device is disabled in Device Manager during diagnosis, you can change it directly from the diagnosis page by selecting Enable or Enable adapter.
Note: This applies to Speaker, Microphone, Camera, Fingerprint recognition, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi.
Learn about PC Diagnostics test items
PC Diagnostics can test different hardware and connection items on your Galaxy Book. Review the items below to understand what each test checks.
Mainboard
Checks the performance of the mainboard.
Cooling fan
Checks the performance of the cooling fan.
Light sensor
Checks the function of the light sensor.
Storage
Checks whether the storage device is functioning properly.
Touchpad
Press all areas of the touchpad to check whether the touch areas shown on the screen work properly.
Touch screen
Press all areas of the touch screen to check whether the touch areas shown on the screen work properly.
Keyboard
Press the keys shown in the keyboard image on the screen to check whether the keyboard works properly.
Speaker
Plays sound through the speakers to check whether sound is output properly from the left and right speakers.
Microphone
Records sound through the microphone, then plays the recorded sound to check whether it can be heard properly.
Camera
Checks whether the camera is displaying images properly.
AC adapter
Checks the connection status of the connected adapter.
Battery
Checks the battery charging status and battery function.
Fingerprint
Checks whether the fingerprint sensor recognizes your fingerprint.
Bluetooth
Searches for nearby Bluetooth devices to check whether Bluetooth works properly.
If a Bluetooth off message appears, select Open settings, turn on Bluetooth in Settings, then run the diagnosis again.
Wi-Fi
Searches for nearby available Wi-Fi networks to check whether Wi-Fi works properly.
If a window appears asking to allow precise location access for PC Diagnostics, select Yes. (This may appear the first time you diagnose Wi-Fi.)
If a message appears saying Wi-Fi needs to be turned on, select Open settings, turn on Wi-Fi in Settings, then run the diagnosis again.
Note: The names, menu paths, and screen configurations of the described features or services may vary depending on the model, software version, and app version.
