Internet Explorer won't open, or crashes immediately after opening

If you can't open Internet Explorer, or if it opens briefly and then closes, the problem might be caused by low memory, or damaged or missing system files.

1. Restart your PC to clear the memory and then reopen Internet Explorer.

2. Run Windows Update to correct problems by replacing out-of-date files, updating drivers, and fixing vulnerabilities.

a. Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Search.
(If you're using a mouse, point to the lower-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer up, and then click Search.).

b. Enter Update in the search box, and then tap or click Check for updates.

c. Download and install any updates from Windows Update.
