What do the LEDs mean on my Samsung notebook?

The LEDs (Light Emitting Diode) on your notebook are status indicators that show the operating status of your computer. Each of the status indicators is lit when the corresponding function is in operation. 


There are three status indicators in the upper left corner of the keyboard and four status indicators in the lower left corner of the notebook. Refer to the images below.

What do the LEDs mean on my Samsung notebook?

The Num Lock status indicator is on when the numeric keyboard is activated. To turn the numeric keyboard on or off, press Fn + Num Lock.

The Caps Lock status indicator is on when the Caps Lock mode is activated, allowing capital letters to be typed without holding the Shift button. To turn the Caps Lock mode on or off, press the Caps Lock button.

The Scroll Lock status indicator is on when the Scroll Lock mode is activated. To turn the Scroll Lock mode on or off, press the Scroll Lock button. 

What do the LEDs mean on my Samsung notebook?

The HDD status indicator is on when the hard disk is being accessed. 

The Wireless LAN status indicator is on when the wireless LAN is in operation.

The Charge Status indicator shows the power source and the battery charge status. 

1 Green - The battery is fully charged or the battery is not installed.
2 Amber - The battery is being charged.
3 Off - The computer is running on battery power without being connected to an AC adaptor.

The Power status indicator shows the operating status of the computer.

  1. On - The computer is on. 

  2. Blinks - The computer is in Sleep Mode.
