Ingress Protection (IP) ratings indicate a product's protection against the entry of solids and water. Learn about the features of each solid foreign object and water resistance rating and what the numbers on the rating mean.
Note: The information provided regarding solid foreign object and water resistance ratings follows the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), under the standard 60529.
Solid foreign object and water resistance rating indication
The first number measures solid foreign object resistance on a scale from 0 to 6, with 6 being the best protection. The second number measures water resistance from 0 to 8.
