What is Smart Hub?

Smart Hub is the intelligent menu system for Samsung Smart TVs. Through the Smart hub you have access to all the functions of your TV and can even download apps, games and browse the internet. Online or offline, Smart Hub broadens the capabilities of your TV, while also making it easier to use.

Please note: the Smart Hub feature was first introduced to Samsung TVs in 2011. If your TV was produced before this you will not have access to Smart Hub. The Smart Hub interface got a new look in 2015, follow the steps below which correspond to your TV model.

To make the most out of the Smart Hub you will need to be logged into a Samsung Account on your TV. This will give you access to more options such as downloading apps.

Log in to your Samsung Account

1 Press the Home or Menu button on your TV remote.
2 Navigate to Settings.

4 Select System Manager.
Select System Manager
5 Select Samsung Account.
Select Samsung Account
6 Log in to or create a Samsung Account.

Now that you're logged into your Samsung Account you can start downloading your favourite apps to create the ultimate entertainment hub.

Download an app

1 Press the Home or Smart Hub button on your TV remote.
2 Navigate to APPS.
Select Apps
3 Select an app to download from the Editor's Choice or select the search icon.
Select the search icon
4 Type the name of the app you wish to download in the search bar, then select Done.
Type the name of the app you want to download then select Done
5 Select the app you want to download.

6 Select Install.

2 Select Smart Features.

4 Select Log in if you already have a Samsung Account. Otherwise, select Create Account .
5 Follow the on-screen instructions to sign in to or create a Samsung Account.

Now that you're logged into your Samsung Account you can start downloading your favourite apps to create the ultimate entertainment hub.

Download an app

1 Press the Smart Hub button on your TV remote.
2 Press the left key on your TV remote to select Apps.

5 Type the name of the app you wish to download in the search bar, then select Done.

Please note: Steps may vary depending on your TV model. 

1 From the start-up screen keep the cursor on Next and press the enter button.
2 Select your country.
3 Enter a new PIN using the number keys. When you enter the final digit you will automatically be directed to the next screen.
4 When you're ready to continue, select Next.
5 If you've not chosen to connect any additional devices at this stage, select Yes.
6 Select your desired wireless network. If you'd like to connect to a wired network, connect the ethernet cable and the TV should automatically connect to the network.
7 If applicable, enter the network password and select Done.
8 Agree to the terms and conditions, and select OK.
9 On this screen, you can sign in to a Samsung account. For now, press the right button to skip.
10 Enter your postcode, then select Next.
11 If you've connected any external devices, they will be displayed here. You should now be able to use your remote to control your TV and any of these devices. Select Next to continue.
12 Your connected network and any devices you've set up will be displayed here. Select Next.
13 On this screen, you can customise the Smart Hub by adding apps you'd like to access. When you're finished, select Next.
14 You are now given the opportunity to test your remote. When you're ready to continue, press the right button.
15 Select Done to complete the initial start-up.

One Connect Box

If you have a One Connect Box make sure that your satellite cable is connected to the Satellite Main port found at the back of your One Connect box before you start. If you do not have One Connect, set up your TV as usual and continue from step one below.

Connect your set top box to the One Connect box using an HDMI cable.

Before you begin

Please check that your TV is plugged in and turned on. You can do this by pressing the power button on either of the remotes.

If you are setting up your TV for the first time, the initial setup screen will appear shortly after it powers on.

1 From the start-up screen select Next.
2 Choose your country.
3 Enter a new PIN using the number keys. When you enter the final digit you will automatically be directed to the next screen.
4 If prompted, choose No.
5 Make sure all your connected devices are turned on then choose Next.

Please note: In some models you may be asked if you want to use intelligent mode. You can either select this mode or Skip.

6 Under Aerial or Dish, choose Freesat, then Next.
7 If prompted, choose OK to scan for channels.
8 Select your desired wireless network. If you'd like to connect to a wired network, connect the ethernet cable and the TV should automatically connect to the network.
9 Agree to terms and conditions, then select OK.
10 On this screen, you can sign into a Samsung account by choosing Sign in. If you do not have an account, choose Create Account.

Please note: At this stage some models offer the option to set up voice ID. To set up, follow the steps as directed or choose No and Skip if you do not want to use this feature. Some models will also allow you to back up an old Samsung TV. You can run a backup from Samsung cloud by following the instructions as directed on screen.

11 Enter your postcode and select Next.
12 Your TV will now scan for channels. When finished choose Next.
13 Select Next.
14 On this screen, you can customise the Smart Hub by adding apps you'd like to access. When you're finished, select Next.
15 You are now given the opportunity to test your remote. When you're ready to continue, press the right button.
16 Select Done to complete the initial start-up.

1 Make sure you are signed into your Samsung account on your phone or tablet.
2 Open the SmartThings app. The app will automatically connect to your TV when you begin the setup.
3 Tap Setup when the prompt appears on the SmartThings app.
4 Enter the pin that appears on your TV screen into the app.
5 Follow the instructions as displayed in the app. Your Wi-Fi and Samsung account information is shared to your TV.

If you receive the message "Smart Hub is being updated. Please try again later" there are some simple steps you can try to fix this issue.

Soft reset the TV

To perform a soft reset:

1 Unplug your TV from the power socket.
2 Wait 30 seconds.
3 Reconnect and power on your TV.

Reset Smart Hub on the TV

1 Use the home button to open the options bar.
2 Navigate to Settings.
3 Select Support.
4 Select Device Care.
5 Select Self Diagnosis.
6 Select Reset Smart Hub.
