How to use the text to speech feature on your Galaxy device or tablet
Some applications can interact with you through spoken words, either instead of or alongside displaying text on the screen. This feature is especially helpful for in-game chats or navigation apps, with many of them leveraging the built-in text-to-speech capabilities of your Galaxy device.
Note: Text to speech differs from the Accessibility screen reader. While Talkback utilizes the same built-in text-to-speech system on your Samsung device, it is specifically designed to aid users with visual impairments.
Modify settings for text to speech through Bixby Vision
*Here are the settings you can modify:
Preferred engine: Select a speech engine. Each has distinct voices and available languages. Engine-specific settings can be accessed by tapping the settings icon for this option.
Language: Set the language for text-to-speech. Only the installed languages on your system will be accessible.
Speech rate: Customize the voice speed according to your preferences.
Pitch: Modify the voice pitch, making it higher or lower.
Play: Listen to a sample of the voice at the selected rate and pitch.
Reset: Restore the rate and pitch to their default settings.
Change language & Install the voice data
The language options for text-to-speech are determined by the language settings on your phone. If you wish to add a new language for text to speech, you'll need to download and install the language on your device.
