How to use Adaptive Picture on your Samsung The Freestyle+
Adaptive Picture is a feature of AI OptiScreen on The Freestyle+ to analyze the surrounding lighting and the color tone of the content being displayed, then automatically adjusts screen brightness to optimize the picture. Follow the steps below to turn Adaptive Picture on or off and review how it operates.
What is Adaptive Picture
Adaptive Picture is one of the AI OptiScreen picture features. It enhances Color Expression based on the built-in ambient light sensor on The Freestyle+ and dynamically optimizes screen brightness based on the surrounding lighting and content color tone.
- Optimizes screen brightness by reflecting both content color tone and ambient lighting.
- The default setting is Off. The feature is activated when set to Vision Booster.
How to turn Adaptive Picture on or off
Follow the steps below to turn Adaptive Picture on or off.
Step 1. Press the Home button on your remote.
Step 2. Select Menu > Settings.
Step 3. Select All Settings.
Step 4. Select General & Privacy > Projector Settings.
Step 5. Go to AI OptiScreen Settings > Adaptive Picture.
Step 6. Select Vision Booster or Off.
Note:
- If the Adaptive Picture setting is changed while AI OptiScreen is set to Auto, AI OptiScreen automatically switches to Custom.
- Once switched to Custom, the other sub-features are set to their Custom Default values.
How Adaptive Picture works
When Adaptive Picture is set to Vision Booster, the projector optimizes the screen through the following stages.
- Before operation: The projected image is displayed at the current brightness setting.
- Vision Booster on: Adaptive Picture begins to operate.
- Dynamic screen adjustment: Screen visibility is dynamically adjusted based on the surrounding lighting and the content color tone.
- Picture adjustment complete: The optimized result is applied to the projected image.
Things to know when using Adaptive Picture
Adaptive Picture and Wall Calibration cannot be activated at the same time.
- When Adaptive Picture is set to Vision Booster, Wall Calibration will not operate.
- To use Wall Calibration, first change Adaptive Picture to Off.
- If you try to run Wall Calibration while Adaptive Picture is set to Vision Booster, a message appears and guides you to the setting menu.

- This feature is supported on The Freestyle+ model.
- Depending on the model or region, this feature may not be supported.
- Adaptive Picture and Wall Calibration cannot be used at the same time.
- Adaptive Picture results may vary depending on various factors, including content, lighting, and other surrounding conditions.
- Images simulated for illustrative purposes.
- Menu names and screen layouts may vary depending on the firmware version.
