How to connect a Gear Watch to a Mobile device

You can use your Galaxy Watch or Gear wearable without a mobile device. However, some functions will not be available without connecting to a mobile device. The minimum requirements for Android devices is to run Android 4.4 and above and have a minumum of 1.5 GB RAM. To run the Samsung Galaxy Watch app on an iOS device, the device will need to run iOS 9.0 or higher.


To connect the Galaxy Wearable to a mobile device, install the Samsung Galaxy Wearable app. Depending on the mobile device, you can download the Samsung Galaxy Wearable app from the following places:    

 

  • Samsung devices – Galaxy Apps
  • Other Android devices -  Google Play Store
  • iOS devices - Samsung Galaxy Watch from the App Store   

 

Follow the below steps to connect the wearable to a mobile device:  

 

1 Turn on your Galaxy Watch or Gear device and Open the Galaxy Wearable app

2 Select Start the Journey to begin

3 There are four permissions you need to Allow to use the app

4 Select your device or choose Mine's not here at the bottom to scan for available Bluetooth signals

5 Select the device you want to pair
galaxy watch
6 Select OK if the 6 digit passkey is the same on both the app and your watch screen
galaxy watch
7 Allow the two permissions to let the watch show SMS messages and calendar events
galaxy watch
8 Select the circles to agree to the terms and conditions to continue
galaxy watch
9 Select the apps you want to see notifications for on the watch, and then select Next > to finish
galaxy watch
