Samsung FOTA Upgrade Guide

Last Update date : Nov 20. 2020

Firmware Over-The-Air (FOTA) is a technology in which the operating firmware of a mobile device is wirelessly upgraded and updated. And the device will check new software(firmware) automatically and notify it to customers when new software version is released. Additionally Samsung can send a push message when there are urgent issues or network operators request it. So you can keep your device up to date easily.

The process usually takes three to 10 minutes, depending on connection speed and file size.

You will need:

ㆍ A stable network connection (3G/4G or Wi-Fi)2.

ㆍEnough battery capacity (More than 50%)3.

ㆍEnough memory space (At least 1GB in USB storage)

If new SW comes out, for FOTA, you can set the software update as auto update or manual update.

1 Navigate to Settings
2 Tap Phone Info
3 Tap Software Update
4 Tap Check New

Note:

ㆍDo not remove the battery during upgrade.

ㆍ The FOTA service will not be supported if you have previously installed a non authorisedsoftware upgrade on your device.
