Sim card issues on a Samsung Galaxy phone

Last Update date : May 31. 2022

Most issues with your SIM card will need to be resolved by your carrier, but before you contact them, there are a couple things you can try to resolve any issues.

1 Check the SIM card.

If your SIM card is not recognized properly, remove the SIM card and inspect it for damage or corrosion. Reinsert the SIM card, making sure it is properly installed with the gold-colored contact fixed firmly into the tray and the edge cutting part of the SIM card is placed exactly.

If you have another phone that works with the same carrier, try using the SIM card with that phone.

2 Try another SIM card.
If you have another active line with your carrier you can try that SIM card with your phone.
3 Replace the SIM card.
If your SIM card continues to have issues, you will need to get a replacement from your service provider.

Note: Available settings and screens may vary by wireless service provider, software version, and device.

Case 1. During the initial setup, the device doesn’t connect to the data network so I cannot sign in to Samsung or Google account.

Depending on the environment and network conditions, the data network connection may not be established directly during the initial setup. If booting is completed after skipping some steps, please activate a SIM card via SIM card manager.

From the Apps screen, tap Settings > Connections > SIM card manager > Check the recognition status of your current SIM card.
