What is iris scanning and how to use it on my Samsung Galaxy device?

The iris recognition feature uses the unique characteristics of your irises, such as their shape and pattern, to strengthen the security of your device.
 
Your iris data can be used for various authentication purposes. After registering your irises, you can set the device to use your irises for the following features such as Screen lock, Web sign-in, Verify Samsung account, Secure Folder,

● Hold your device about 25-35 cm away from your face with the screen facing towards you. Position your eyes in the circles shown on the screen.
 
● Wearing glasses or contacts when unlocking your device or verifying your identity may cause the device to have difficulty recognising your irises.
 
● Keep your eyes open and look at the top of the screen.
 
● IRIS recognition may not work properly in direct sunlight. For best results, perform this process indoors.
 
● Dirt and debris on the IRIS camera, LED sensor, or proximity sensor may cause the device to have difficulty recognising your irises.

5 To use iris recognition securely, you need to set a Pattern, PIN, or Password. You will need it to unlock your phone after it restarts or when it hasn’t been used for more than 24 hours.

12 When you swipe in any directions on the locked screen, the iris recognition screen will appear. Look at the screen to scan your irises. If your iris is not recognized within 10 seconds or you are close to it, the device will automatically stop iris recognition to protect your eyes

1 From the home screen, swipe down the screen to bring up your apps.
2 Select Settings.
3 Choose Lock screen and security
4 Select Iris Scanner.
5 You will need to enter your alternative lock method in order to access the settings. This could be a PIN, pattern or password, depending on what you set up when you originally added the iris lock.
6 Tap ‘Remove iris data’. then select Remove. Once the registered iris data has been deleted, all the related features will also be deactivated.
