Wireless charging troubleshooting guide on Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8

Last Update date : Jul 25. 2026

The Galaxy Z Fold8 features a new aspect ratio optimised for viewing content. Since its aspect ratio is different from previous models, the internal charging coil is located at the bottom of the device, rather than the centre. Wireless charging relies on electromagnetic induction between the internal charging coil of your device and the charging pad. If the device and the charging pad are not properly aligned, charging may not proceed properly. Follow this guide to optimise your wireless charging experience.

To ensure proper charging, please make sure the wireless charging coil located at the bottom of the device is aligned with the centre of the charger when placing the device.

The device placement during wireless charging

  • Check for foreign objects. Ensure there is no dirt, dust, or metallic debris between the back of your device and the charging pad surface.

  • Check your phone case. If you are using a third-party cover thicker than 5mm or a case holding credit cards, remove them before charging. We recommend using official Samsung covers.

  • Centre your device. Ensure your device is placed directly in the middle of the wireless charging pad. If it is misaligned, charging efficiency can drop and cause charging to stop.

  • Verify third-party charger compatibility. Third-party wireless chargers have varying internal coil structures. Even if centred, they may experience dropouts. Ensure your charger features the official WPC (Qi) certification mark.

Note: Using a Samsung-authorised charging pad is recommended for optimal performance and safety. Please note that uncertified charging pads may not charge your device correctly.
