Technically impressive, ergonomically brilliant...but what happened to the design? I upgraded from the Galaxy Watch 6 to the Galaxy Watch 9, and after spending some time with it I’ve landed in a slightly strange place: technically, this is probably the better watch. But aesthetically, I’m still not convinced it is the better Galaxy Watch. Let’s start with what Samsung has got right. The ergonomics are excellent. It is incredibly comfortable and lightweight, to the point where I genuinely forget I’m wearing it. For something designed to stay on your wrist all day and night, that matters enormously. The new health features are also genuinely interesting, and the display is excellent. Everything feels fast, fluid and responsive. Possibly too responsive at times. When using the on-screen bezel, I regularly find myself scrolling further than intended because it reacts so quickly. And that brings me to something I really miss: the physical bezel. There was something intuitive and satisfying about using it, but it also contributed to the Watch 6 feeling like an actual watch rather than a piece of technology strapped to your wrist. Which brings us to my biggest issue with the Watch 9: the design. I am struggling with the cushion-style pad underneath the circular watch face, particularly because the dial sits raised above it. It makes the whole thing feel bulkier visually than it actually is, and the raised face seems easier to knock accidentally. More importantly, to my eyes, the pad is simply a design eyesore. One of the things I loved about the Galaxy Watch 6 was that Samsung had managed to make a smartwatch that didn't scream smartwatch. With the right strap, it could look like a proper traditional watch. The Watch 9 moves away from that. I wish Samsung had retained more of the distinctive classic-watch identity rather than moving towards the increasingly generic smartwatch aesthetic. I buy Samsung because I want Samsung to make Samsung products. I want the technology, the ecosystem and the health features without feeling as though I’m carrying a miniature computer on my wrist. The lack of a Samsung metal bracelet at launch makes that design problem worse. For a premium watch, it seems ridiculous that there isn't an official metal strap available from the outset. I've now bought a third-party metal bracelet to see whether that can rescue the look, which probably says quite a lot. Then there is charging. I've experienced the watch becoming noticeably warm while charging, with charging slowing significantly as a result. A certain amount of warmth during wireless charging isn't unusual, but when thermal management starts extending the charging time considerably, it doesn't inspire confidence. And when something strapped to your wrist starts getting hot enough for you to wonder whether you should be concerned about the battery, that isn't exactly the premium ownership experience Samsung was aiming for. So where does that leave me? Conflicted. The Watch 9 is wonderfully comfortable. The software is slick. The screen is superb. The health technology is impressive. In several important respects, it is clearly an evolution from my Watch 6. But good product design isn't just about specifications. The Watch 6 disappeared on my wrist both physically and visually. The Watch 9 disappears physically, but visually that cushion pad announces itself every time I look at it. And I can't unsee it. In fact, it reminds me of a flying saucer. I probably wouldn't have bought the Watch 9 at all if Samsung hadn't offered its 100-day satisfaction guarantee. So I'm giving it a proper trial and hoping that somewhere after the required 45-day mark I either discover that the design genuinely grows on me… …or realise I've developed Stockholm syndrome. For now? Fantastic technology. Exceptional comfort. Questionable design choices. Samsung, please stop trying to make my Galaxy Watch look more like everyone else's smartwatch. One of the reasons I bought Galaxy Watches in the first place was because they didn't.

I have adhd so the health coach aspect is incredible for accountability and gamification at meeting my goals. I honestly love it. The only draw back is the battery life, because the watch does so much it uses a lot of power which mean is needs a good charge every day or 2 smaller charges, I've come from a old galaxy watch (about 7 years old) which I also loved but the charging stand for that was so much better than the new flat charges which isn't usb. It doesn't affect the use of the watch though and the watch and it's features are amazing.

So where does that leave me? Conflicted. The Watch 9 is wonderfully comfortable. The software is slick. The screen is superb. The health technology is impressive. In several important respects, it is clearly an evolution from my Watch 6. But good product design isn't just about specifications. The Watch 6 disappeared on my wrist both physically and visually. The Watch 9 disappears physically, but visually that cushion pad announces itself every time I look at it. And I can't unsee it. In fact, it reminds me of a flying saucer. I probably wouldn't have bought the Watch 9 at all if Samsung hadn't offered its 100-day satisfaction guarantee. So I'm giving it a proper trial and hoping that somewhere after the required 45-day mark I either discover that the design genuinely grows on me… …or realise I've developed Stockholm syndrome. For now? Fantastic technology. Exceptional comfort. Questionable design choices. Samsung, please stop trying to make my Galaxy Watch look more like everyone else's smartwatch. One of the reasons I bought Galaxy Watches in the first place was because they didn't.

The screen is bright enough to read in direct sunlight, it's light on the wrist, and it handles gym sessions and rain without issue. Health tracking is comprehensive sleep, heart rate, ECG, fitness scores and there's no subscription fee, which I appreciate. Sleep tracking is the feature I use most. It breaks the night into deep, light and REM stages, gives you a sleep score each morning, and tracks blood oxygen and snoring while you're out. The sleep coaching programme is a nice touch it sets small weekly targets rather than just showing you numbers. It's comfortable enough to wear overnight, which not every smartwatch manages. Downside: battery is a daily charge, and some features only work with a Samsung phone.

The detection on workouts is better, the screen has better clarity and sensitivity, and the bezel around the face protects the screen as well. The battery is still less than what I would have hoped for, only about 36 hours and that's with most features turned off or to the minimum levels. Straps are good, will need to change them most likely due to sensitive skin, but comfortable as is.

Functionality still good. However, the standard strap on the new Watch 9 as compared to Watch 7 is far inferior in terms of look and quality. Are Samsung trying to save money at the customers expense? The small / medium strap is also smaller and I am nearly on the last hole. In addition, I am noticing no improvement in battery life on each new Galaxy watch, including the Watch 9. When are Sumsung going to introduce solar power, which I think is a major aspect nowadays. Garmin win on this!

To be honest, the experience was just “meh” for me. The biggest issue was the battery life. I found it too short for my liking because I had to charge the watch almost every day. I also felt that the watch was a bit too big for my wrist and preferred something more compact. The design is another area that didn’t really suit my personal preference. I usually prefer watches with a round design, so the shape of the Watch9 felt a little odd to me. This is purely based on my personal preference, and I’m sure others may feel differently, but for me, the design didn’t really appeal to me.

The battery on the watch 6 was not very good and I would struggle to get through the day and evening without having to go onto power saving. I went to bed last night after wearing the watch 9 for 17 hours and saw that I still had 72 percent battery. Also it is nice and flat on my wrist and feels comfortable to wear. The display is colourful and clear. The only downside is my older chargers do not work with the watch 9 and it is hard to get hold of the new chargers at the moment.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've just upgraded from the Watch3 bronze 40mm bluetooth, to the Watch9 40mm bluetooth in cream and white band. The display is lovely, clear and crisp on the Watch9 but I'm actually not the biggest fan of this circle-in-square design, especially with how the dark and rounded screen sits on top the 'silver square' (I thought the metal would be more on the cream/yellow side, but it just looks silver to me, really). What else is stopping me from giving it a 5/5? That I wish there was a more feminine and classy design with straps for smaller wrists. Oh and I really miss the classy Watch3's rotating bezel - which was also quite a good screen protector, making it more durable! The current design exposes the screen a lot. The cream sport band is also more white than cream; thus, holding onto the little fluffs from my clothes. All in all, I wouldn't have upgraded had my Watch3 not started to lose its functions and recordings. Not sure why, but it took 30 mins to charge my new watch by 20% - I'll need to monitor if that's the case, in general. I guess the upgrade comes in terms of the sleep apnea monitor, body temp, maps and the better display.

I noticed instantly the brighter colours ,whick looks much nicer than on my old watch, the screen is also perfect and easy to read in direct sunlight. The battery lasts already longer than my previous Watch, which is brilliant. The watch itself looks really nice and feels comfortable around the wrist . I like the new health features too , the accuracy of the steps and all kind of tracking is impressing comparing it to my old watch. The durability of the Watch so far is fantastic too. I definitely like my upgrade to Watch 9 .

It's super lightweight, and the band's comfortable enough for all-day (even overnight) wear. Speed-wise it's snappy, no lag scrolling through menus or opening apps. It feels right at home on the wrist and does not feel out of place. It is very very light, which is surprising given the relatively strong battery life of about 2-3 days of regular use. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Wanted an upgrade from my Garmin watch and decided to switch to Samsung. As the new 9 was being released I thought I'd give it a go. Unboxing it i was unsure if I was going to keep it. The strap doesn't come attached to the watch itself which I wasn't expecting and I thought it was going to be a faff. The strap was easy to fit, albeit I put it the wrong way round to start with but it's easy to unclip. First impressions the watch looks nice, it isn't too heavy on the wrist. Setting up and pairing to my S25 FE was painless. There sre plenty of options to customise the watch through the Wearables app. Not sure how the battery will fair compared to my old watch, early indications are it's not as good but it might be I have a lot of things running in the background which I can turn off

It's extremely light and comfortable to wear due to the weight and materials used for the strap. It feels very well made and the screen and buttons are very responsive. So far in the two weeks of owning it, I've found the battery life very good. Adding to that I feel I must say, I don't wear it during the night to monitor my sleep. Everything I've tried with the watch so far appears to be quite accurate including Blood Oxygen etc. One down side, and I knew it would be, due to my Tattoos, is the way it doesn't record pulse etc. That said, my previous smart watch was the series 1 and lasted very well, only needing updating because of upgrades being difficult. So fingers crossed for the durability to be the same if not better.

The battery life is massively improved along with the design. Watch doesn't feel to bulky with the 40mm version a perfect size (for me). I would love samsung to offer an additional strap, one regular one for a larger wrist, as the one I have is a little snug, only able to use two notches. Outside of that. I'm over the moon with my watch and the additional health data available

It's a nice watch with a curated design, great features, and solid connectivity. However, when it comes to the battery, you need to know what you're getting into. With the bundled cable and an original Samsung charger, the best I could achieve is 1 hour and 40 minutes for a full charge. That is ridiculously slow considering the battery barely lasts 24 hours! Because it's supposed to handle continuous tracking like sleep monitoring, it becomes a major hassle to plan your day around charging downtime. Coming from the Watch Fit 2 - which lasted 3–4 days and recharged in about 30 minutes - I expected a flagship Watch 9 to perform at least comparably. Instead, this higher-end device is roughly four times slower to charge than a lower-end model. If you rely on round-the-clock tracking, think twice before buying.

The display is brightly lit as well so there's no worries for glare. The body of the watch is very sturdy and reliable. Did a comparison between my fitbit and watch and accuracy was rather close. This feels like a significant upgrade, as this watch does so much more than my last one. There are a lot more health stats, and more apps that you can add. Because of this the battery doesn't last as long and I'm having to charge this way more. If you've already got a Samsung watch I don't know if this is much of an upgrade

Compared to the plain circle of the Watch 7, the extended edges actually provide better protection for the screen. I found the sensors to be fast, accurate, and useful. Its amazing how different it feels compared to my Watch5 even though the dimensions are not too different. The bands are softer and fit my wrist better. The sensor doesn't eat into my wrist like it used to. Looking forward to measuring Heart health, Vitals, Fitness Index and Cardio Load.

The watch is nice and feels much more comfortable than my old one, a lot better performance, but the battery life is terrible. I'm starting to regret buying it to be honest; I charge it before bed and by the next night it's practically dead and won't last another night.

My first Samsung watch purchase in nearly 10 years and was excited to see what advancements had been made since last Samsung watch, thought it would be the perfect companion to my new S26 Ultra. Purchased the watch9 44mm LTE version direct from my network provider and was pleasantly surprised with my purchase. The screen is beautiful and it's back with features was loving my new purchase until th following day when it was time to charge which seemed to take forever. I timed the next charge which was just over 4 hours to go from 6% battery to 100% using the original supplied puck, not great especially i seem to be charging it more than I thought i would be and not even had it a week yet. I've tried a handful of 3rd party chargers and not one worked (I like a spare for travelling). Display prompts messages stating, slow charging, charger not compatible to not doing/displaying anything at all. Loved this item at first but has become nothing more than a disappointment and thinking I shall probably be returning it for a refund.
