Samsung AC "Smart Install"

"Smart Install" is a special function to check important parameters of your Samsung Inverter air conditioner and is mandatory for 2024 AC models. Here’s a tutorial on how to activate "Smart Install" in your Samsung air conditioner and also learn to decode various error codes that may appear during the installation process.

Please refer this guide for quick steps to "Smart Install" your AC.

A) Check the installation status of the air conditioner.

1. Check the power supply, service valve (if it’s open), power cable of the indoor and outdoor unit and amount of additional refrigerant required for pipe extension.

2. Status of the indicator after supplying the power : Standby status.

B) When the air conditioner is in standby status, use the remote controller to start the "Smart Install" mode.

1. Press the [SET], [Mode], [Power] button simultaneously for 4 seconds.

• "Smart Install" mode can be operated only with the supplied remote controller.
• During the "Smart Install" mode procedure, remote controller cannot be operated.

2. "Smart Install" mode in progress.

88 Display : Progress will be displayed in 0~99.

Note:- 

  • Remote controller appearance & functions may vary as per AC model.

C) "Smart Install" mode will end.

1. "Smart Install" mode will take approximately 7~13 minutes. (Actual time may vary based on the model)

2. When Installation is successful : "Smart Install" mode will end with ringing sound and the air conditioner will be in standby status. (Error message will not be displayed on the indoor unit indicator and the remote controller and buttons on the indoor unit will work normally)

3. When installation is not successful : "Smart Install" mode will end and error message will be displayed on the indoor unit display.

Take necessary measures when error occurs

Error indicator / Display Error Measures to take by an installer
C 101 Communication Error between Indoor and outdoor unit. Check the cables connection between the indoor and outdoor units. See if the power cable or communication cable is interchanged.
C 102 Communication Error between Indoor and outdoor unit. Check the cables connection between the indoor and outdoor units. See if the power cable or communication cable is interchanged.
Refrigerant not flowing into the indoor unit.

1. Check the outdoor unit for refrigerant leaks, and check and ensure the service valves are open.

2. Check and ensure the outdoor unit compressor is operating.

*These measures are applicable only when the appearance of the outdoor-unit terminal block is as above.

C 121 Error on indoor temperature sensor. Make sure that the indoor temperature sensor is properly connected.
C 122, C 123 Error on indoor heat exchanger sensor. Make sure that the evaporator temperature sensor is properly connected.
C 154 Error on indoor fan motor.

1. Make sure that the evaporator motor is properly connected to the board.

2. Check for a foreign substance inside the unit that may be preventing the blower wheel from turning.

88, C 162, C 163 EEPROM / Option error. Reset the option codes.
C 422 Refrigerant flow blocking error.

1. Make sure that the service valves are completely open.

2. Check for any blockage in the refrigerant pipe that connects the indoor and outdoor units.

3. Check for refrigerant leaks.

C 554 Lack of Refrigerant. (For Inverter model only)

1. Make sure a sufficient amount of refrigerant has been added for a pipe that is longer than 7.5 m.

2. Check for refrigerant leaks between the valve and pipe connection.
