How to use Track location, Lost mode, Erase data function in SmartThings Find

SmartThings Find is a powerful tool designed to help you locate your Galaxy devices, including phones, tablets, watches, earbuds, and more. Whether your device is online or offline, SmartThings Find ensures you can track it down effortlessly. Additionally, you can share your device's location with others and receive notifications when a device arrives at or leaves a specific location.

About SmartThings Find:

  • Find All Your Devices: SmartThings Find allows you to locate various Galaxy devices, ensuring you never lose track of your essentials.
  • Offline Finding: Even if your device is not connected to a network, SmartThings Find can still help you locate it.
  • Share Location with Others: Invite people through the SmartThings app to share the location of your devices. They can help you locate the device or make it ring.
  • Get Notified: Receive alerts when your Galaxy SmartTag arrives at or leaves a designated location. This feature requires a SmartThings Station in the area you want to monitor.

Note:

  • If you lost your device, at first you can submit a FIR at your nearest police station.
  • Tracking the mobile via IMEI is under authorization of law enforcement agency e.g. Police
  • IMEI number can be blocked by Mobile service provider (Mobile network operator)

Enable the Lost device protection settings

Manage settings that help you find your phone and protect your data in case your phone is lost or stolen.

1. Tap Settings > Security and privacy

2. Tap on Lost device protection.

3. Tap on Find My Mobile.

4. Enable the settings in Find My Mobile option

1 In a web browser on your PC, go to the SmartThings Find site.

2 Click on Sign In.

3 Enter your Samsung Email address and Password and then click Sign in.

4 You will be taken to the "My Devices" page. If you have multiple devices registered you will need to select the one you wish to operate.

Log into SmartThings Find using the instructions above. 

If you cannot find your device, you can use Ring on this screen to ring the device. The device will ring even if set to Silent or Vibrate, and a notification will appear on your smartphone screen.

1 To track your device location, log into the SmartThings Find site and click Track location.

2 Once you click on Track location, a pop-up will appear to click on Start. It will check where your missing phone is every 15 minutes.
3 Find My Mobile will attempt to locate your device. It may take a long time or fail, depending on the network environment and the state of the mobile device. When your device is located its approximate location is indicated by a marker on the map.

Follow the instructions above for logging into SmartThings Find, then:

1 Choose the device you want to locate from the list of connected devices

2 Click on Lost mode

3 Once you click on Lost mode. A pop up will appear to add the protection on your phone using the following functions:

SmartThings Find lets you remotely delete all the information on the device or SD card.  Your personal information cannot be recovered after using this feature. After using the Factory Data Reset option you will no longer be able to use the SmartThings Find service.

Follow the instructions above for logging into SmartThings Find, then:

1 On the SmartThings Find page, click Erase data

2 Click Erase.
3 Enter your Samsung account password.
4 Click OK to confirm the Erase data. If the device is offline then the data will be erased when the device next goes online.

Please note that while battery life is extended, data won't be backed up to Samsung Cloud.

Extend your battery life using Maximum power saving mode (the mode's name depends on the device and software).

1 On the SmartThings Find page, click Extend battery life

3 The battery life on your device has been extended

To disable this feature, swipe down from the top of the screen to access the notifications bar, then tap the Power saving icon.

Note: Few of above given options/features will not be available as dependent on Specific Model.
