Transfer wirelessly
STEP 1
Go to Settings > “Cloud and Accounts” > “Smart Switch” and select “Wireless”* on both your old device and your new Galaxy smartphone.
STEP 2
Select “Send” on your old device and “Receive” on your new Galaxy smartphone.
STEP 3
Select items to transfer and click “Transfer”.
*For Android™ Marshmallow (6.0.1): Go to “Settings” > “Back up and Reset” > “Smart Switch” and select “Wireless”.
STEP 1
On your old device, go to “Settings” > “Cloud Storage” > “Back up Cloud Storage” to back up your data.
Ensure that Wi-Fi® connection is established.
STEP 2
On your new Galaxy smartphone, go to “Settings” > “Cloud and Accounts” > “Smart Switch” and select “Wireless”1.
Select “Galaxy smartphone to receive” and choose your old device accordingly when prompted.
Sign in to your Cloud Storage Account2 from your Galaxy smartphone.
STEP 3
Select items to transfer and click “Transfer”.

Transfer via USB Cable
STEP 1
Go to “Settings” > “Cloud and Accounts” > “Smart Switch” and select “USB Cable”* on both your old device and your new Galaxy smartphone.
STEP 2
Connect both devices with the USB cable and USB Connector to begin.
STEP 3
Select “Send” on your old device and “Receive” on your new Galaxy smartphone.
STEP 4
Select items to transfer and click “Transfer”.
*For Android™ Marshmallow (6.0.1): Go to “Settings” > “Back up and Reset” > “Smart Switch” and select “USB Cable”.
STEP 1
On your new Galaxy smartphone, go to “Settings” > “Cloud and Accounts” > “Smart Switch” and select “USB Cable”.
STEP 2
Connect both devices with the USB cable and USB Connector to begin. Select “Trust” on your old device when prompted.

Select items to transfer and click “Transfer”.

STEP 1
Go to “Settings” > “Cloud and Accounts” > “Smart Switch” and select “External Storage” on the Smart Switch app*.
STEP 2
Select your content and start “Back Up”.
STEP 3
Remove your microSD card/external USB storage from your old device and connect it to your new device.
On your new device, go to “Settings” > “Cloud and Accounts” > “Smart Switch” and select “External Storage”*.
STEP 4
Select your content and start “Restore”.
Ensure that your old device has a microSD card inserted or is connected to an external USB storage device (OTG connector required).

Install Smart Switch1 and use it to back up your data on your old device. Select “External Storage”.

Select your content and start “Back Up”.

Go to “Settings” > “Cloud and Accounts” > “Smart Switch” and select “External Storage”*.

Select your content and start “Restore”.
