Key features of 2026 Q-Symphony
Q-Symphony links speakers that support symphony to your TV speakers, to play sounds from the different speakers simultaneously, offering the ultimate surround sound experience. The sound from your TV and connected devices is automatically optimized without complex manual setup.
Key improvements in the 2026 Q-Symphony:
• Expanded connectivity: Connect up to five Samsung sound devices via Wi-Fi when both the TV and soundbar are 2026 models. Up to three devices are supported when 2023–2025 models are included.(Features may change without any notification.)
• Q-Symphony with AI Technology: Q-Symphony, which is applied AI techonology, utilizes TV NPU Processor. Utilizing TV NPU processor. Q-Symphony delivers more detailed surround sound by analyzing the content to extract surround sound from center channel.( TV NPU Processor is applied from Y23~Y26 TV)
• TV speaker control: A new option within Q-Symphony settings allows you to turn off the TV’s built-in speakers and use only external sound devices.
• Legacy compatibility mode: When older sound devices are included, Q-Symphony still operates in legacy mode to provide basic Q-Symphony functionality. To take advantage of updates provided for older devices, always keep the software up to date.
How to set up Q-Symphony
Connecting the TV and sound device
Soundbars can be connected to the TV using an HDMI (ARC/eARC) cable, an optical cable, or Wi-Fi. Wireless speakers such as Music Frame and Music Studio support Wi-Fi connections only.
Wired symphony connection (Soundbar)
Configuring wired symphony settings is possible only when an audio device that supports wired symphony functionality is connected to HDMI or Optical. For 2024 and newer soundbar models, select the ARC/eARC source on the soundbar.
Wireless symphony connection (Wi-Fi)
For audio devices that support Wi-Fi and Q-Symphony, it is possible to configure wireless symphony settings. The sound device and TV must be on the same Wi-Fi network. Register the sound device in the SmartThings app first.
Activating Q-Symphony
Step 1.
From the TV’s Home screen, navigate to Settings, Select All Settings.
*All third-party logos/marks are trademarks/registered of respective third-party brands.
Step 2.
Select Sound.
Step 3.
Select Q-Symphony Settings.
Step 4.
Select the soundbar or speaker to connect, and then select Apply.
Set up your desired symphony configuration by selecting wired or wireless audio devices. Audio devices will appear in the device list, including devices connected via HDMI or optical cables.
Step 5.
Follow the on-screen instructions if necessary. The TV’s sound output will be set to Q-Symphony.
Additional Q-Symphony settings
• Auto Position: Automatically changes the positions of configured audio devices. This function may not be supported depending on the model or geographical area. This feature may not work depending on the TV microphone and sound output settings. The perceived position may not match the actual position depending on obstacles and reflective characteristics at the site where the audio device is installed. Position recognition may fail depending on the environment in which the audio devices are installed.
• Adjust Position: Manually change the positions of audio devices configured in Q-Symphony mode. If you set a wireless audio device as a device for wireless symphony, it is possible to set a position. Position setting may not be supported, depending on the wireless audio device.
• Adjust Level: Adjust the volume of individual audio devices configured in Q-Symphony mode. Adjust Level may not be supported, depending on the models of your wireless audio devices.
Turning off Q-Symphony
To turn off Q-Symphony, navigate to Setting > All Settings > Sound > Sound Output > TV Speaker. The TV will now use its own speaker.
TV built-in speaker control
On 2026 TVs, you can turn the TV’s built-in speakers on or off within the Q-Symphony settings. Turn off the built-in speakers to use only external sound devices, or keep them on to use both the TV speakers and external devices together.
Troubleshooting
Audio delay or connection delay occurs
If the wireless router (Wi-Fi) is far away and the wireless signal strength is weak, or if other devices are generating heavy wireless traffic, or if some devices are connected to a different band (2.4 GHz or 5 GHz) of the wireless router, audio delay or connection delay may occur due to communication latency.
Connect the TV and all audio devices to the same band of the wireless router (5 GHz band connection recommended). You can change the Wi-Fi network via the TV’s pop-up menu, the SmartThings app, or the Samsung Sound app under “Settings – Network Status – Wi-Fi Network Change.”
Sound device does not connect
- Confirm that each device is a Q-Symphony compatible model.
- Verify that the TV and sound devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
- Make sure two or more wireless speakers are connected to the same wireless network for surround sound configuration.
- Check that the Wi-Fi signal strength is sufficient. Signal strength can be verified in the product menu or in the SmartThings app under network information.
- Ensure the TV and sound device firmware are updated to the latest version.
- In some regions, Q-Symphony may not connect when the wireless router uses a DFS channel. Change the router’s channel settings or switch to a non-DFS channel. Refer to your wireless router’s manual for details.
- If you turn on screen mirroring mode while using an audio device that supports Wi-Fi, the connection is disconnected.
Surround sound configuration does not activate
Surround sound configuration can be used when the following conditions are met:
- Make sure two or more wireless speakers are connected to the same wireless network.
- An audio device that supports Wi-Fi is connected to the same wireless network as the TV.
TV built-in speakers are not producing sound
Check whether the TV built-in speakers are turned on in the Q-Symphony settings. Depending on the content being played(played (such as news or dialogue scenes with no effect sounds), surround or effect sounds may be minimal, which can make the TV speaker output less noticeable.
Q-Symphony settings changed on their own
Due to the nature of wireless networks, the connection between devices may be temporarily disconnected if the wireless signal strength is weak or if there is signal interference from other nearby wireless devices. In most cases, the original settings will be restored after a brief wait. However, if the settings do not restore or this issue occurs frequently, it may be necessary to check the wireless signal strength and potential signal interference from other nearby devices.
Note:
- This function is not supported if your TV model is The Frame and installed in portrait orientation. To use the TV in landscape orientation, set up the feature again.
- It is not possible to turn on wired symphony and wireless symphony modes simultaneously.
- Some wireless audio devices may not support a configuration that includes soundbars.
