How to use Sports Mood on your Samsung Sound Tower

Sports Mood is a feature on your Samsung Sound Tower that activates dynamic Sports Lighting to amplify the excitement of sporting matches. When combined with the Sound Mode setting, Sports mood delivers a variety of "flag-inpired" lighting effects that transforms the energy to match the moment. This guide explains the supported models, the firmware and app update requirements, how to use Sports Mood with different Sound Modes, and how to select a country.

Sports Mood is supported on the following Sound Tower models.

  • ST50F
  • ST40F

Sports Mood works together with Sound Mode to deliver different lighting effects.

Sports Mood + Stadium Sound Mode

For a more immersive sports experience.

  • Default: Lights gently flutter like a waving flag
  • Highlight parts: Lights blink quickly

Sports Mood + Other Sound Modes

Boost the energy of your music or party.

  • Music off: Lights gently flutter like a waving flag
  • Music on: Lights flash in sync with the beat

What you need before using Sports Mood

Before using Sports Mood, the following updates must be completed.

  • The latest firmware on your Sound Tower
  • The latest version of the Samsung Sound Tower app on your mobile device

Step 1. Visit the Samsung official website (https://www.samsung.com)

Step 2. Select Support and click User Manuals Download.

Step 3. Enter your product model code (ST50F, ST40F) in search bar and select model.

Step 4. Download the latest version of the Upgrade file.

Step 5. Unzip the file, then copy or move the files to a USB drive formatted in FAT file system. We recommend using an empty USB drive.

Step 6. With the Sound Tower powered on, connect the USB drive to the USB port on the Sound Tower.

Step 7. Set the input source to USB. The input source can be changed by pressing the button on the top panel or through the Samsung Sound Tower app.

Step 8. The update starts, and all top panel lights stay illuminated during the update process.

Step 9. When the update finishes, the Sound Tower automatically reboots.

Note: If the update takes more than 10 minutes, press and hold the Power button on the top panel for 10 seconds and wait 1 minute. Press the Power button again to turn on the Sound Tower and retry the update via USB.

Update the Samsung Sound Tower app to the latest version through the Google Play Store (Android) or the Apple App Store (iOS).

Note: Software updates can also be performed through the Samsung Sound Tower app.

Follow the steps below to select a country in the Samsung Sound Tower app.

Step 1. Select Sports Mood in the app.

Step 2. Choose one of the 5 continents.

Step 3. Choose 1 country from the list.

Note: All third-party logos/marks are trademarks/registered of respective third-party brands.

Note:

  • Sports Mood is supported only on the ST50F and ST40F Sound Tower models.
  • Depending on the model or region, this feature may not be supported. 
  • The latest firmware and the latest version of the Samsung Sound Tower app are required to use Sports Mood.
  • Lighting effects vary depending on the selected Sound Mode and whether music is playing.
  •  Images simulated for illustrative purposes.
  • Menu names and screen layouts may vary depending on the firmware or app version.
