Get creative with your exercise routine.

If you have no time for the gym or would prefer to save the monthly membership fee, don’t fret. Shiny weights and fancy machinery might be useful, but they aren’t necessary. You can easily enjoy a workout at home if you get a little creative.

To help get you started, we’ve come up with a list of exercises you can do from the comfort of your home using everyday household items. Just remember to track your workout with your Galaxy Watch.

Stair climbing

If you’ve got stairs in your home, go on and climb them. Stairs offer a great cardio workout just by walking up and down them a few times. Climbing stairs has even been proven to burn more calories per minute than jogging, plus it helps control weight and builds muscle tone. It’s a simple yet effective form of exercise. You can track the number of steps you take and floors you’ve climbed using the Galaxy Watch too.

Wall push ups

Not a fan of push ups? Never fear – try wall push ups instead. They’re a great way to build up foundational strength and prepare you for more challenging workouts. Simply put your hands against a wall with your arms shoulder level, and just a little more than a shoulder-width apart, and perform a push up in standing position.

Book core crunches

This one’s for the book lovers. If you’re new to exercising, instead of buying a medicine ball or weight plate, use one of your heaviest books instead – they’re perfect for core crunches. Lie face up on the floor with your knees bent and place the book in your hands, extended in front of your chest. Slowly lift up your head, neck and shoulders off the floor, and feel your core muscles getting to work.

Chair dips

Looking for a tricep workout? Try chair dips. Sit in front of the chair and place your hands behind your back on the chair’s corners, and extend your legs. Then, bend your elbows to lower yourself down, and straighten your arms to raise yourself back up. Work up a sweat by doing a few reps, and keep an eye on your heart rate with your Galaxy Watch.

Tin can bicep curls

Dumbbells are a gym staple, but if you don’t have any at home, have a look in your pantry. Those cans of beans and soup will do the trick for bicep curls. Start with the smaller, lighter cans before moving your way up to the larger, heavier ones.

Broom twists

Sweeping your kitchen floor with a broom might get your body moving, but by being a little more creative, brooms can also trim your waistline. Just hold the broom behind your shoulders while seated, and twist your sides from left to right to give your core a good workout.

Single arm basketball push ups

Are you a basketball fan? After you’ve shot a few hoops, wind yourself down with single arm basketball push ups. Just assume the traditional push up position with your arms on the ground, but place your basketball under one hand. It’ll help you develop better balance and coordination.
