How to enable and disable Talkback Feature?

Voice Assistant or TalkBack is a feature that aids blind and low-vision users. It says actions out loud as items are touched, selected, or activated.

It is called Voice Assistant on  newer phones and Talkback on older phones and operating system. 

Enable Voice Assistant (TalkBack)

The screens below may appear slightly different to your device depending on your operating system and whether you have personalised your device with themes, but the steps will be the same. 

1 From the home screen, tap Apps then tap Settings

2 Scroll down and tap Accessibility
Tap Accessibility
3 Tap Voice Assistant or TalkBack . (This feature is called TalkBack on older devices, and Voice Assistant on newer.)
The option on your screen will appear as one of the below. Tap the option that best matches your device.

4 Tap the slider to activate Voice Assistant (TalkBack)

5 Tap OK to confirm
Tap OK
6 For first time users of Voice Assistant (TalkBack), some of your current settings such as TTS (Text-To-Speech) may need to be disabled and you will be prompted to change them here.
Tap OK and Enable TalkBack/Voice Assistant, if prompted.

7 If this is the first time you have used Voice Assistant (TalkBack), you may now be given a tutorial on using it. (This will depend on which model device you have)

Disable Voice Assistant (TalkBack)

As VoiceAssistant (TalkBack) is designed for low-vision users, the touchscreen is set up differently.

1 From the home screen, tap Apps then tap Settings

4 Double tap the slider to disable Voice Assistant (TalkBack)
